AN OPEN LETTER.

CONCERNED
MANDATORY
THINK ABOUT IT
MANDATORY
LIKE FIRE ISN:T IT!
When in the handi of a sensible,
responsible person, it can be
helpful, comforting, and a real
blessing, but just let it fall into the
hands of an arson maniac and what
happens? ft can become ugly,
horrifying and a real Hell on. earth.
As you . may have guessed - by
now; I am referring to that idiot
who has made the strangle strap
mandatory. ,In)our more sophistic-
ated society this: thing is called a.
Seat Belt. . .
Do you realize this is imposing
on and taking away just a little
more of your ever so' precious
personal freedom.
How much do we, sit back and
take? ' We have a school system
which is costing us millions of
dollars more than it should. We
have stupid mixed up tax laws
instead of one simple law. Me*,
is forced on us without the public's
approyal.
Booze advertising is shown into
our hoines through television 'and
radio while they' let the .drunksiun -
the roads and make them unsafe,
seat belts or not., When an accident
happens involving a drunken
.driver, it is never mentioned that
alcohol was the cause of it. Oh no!
That's .a dirty word after someone
has been killed. And I must
mention, the closing 'of our • local
hospitals is done with no regard to .
personal emotion or suffering:
1 could go 'on and on but leellet
back to our freedom to choose for
ourselves. It is absolutely no threat
to anyone else's safety on the road
whether we have the seat belts
fastened or not; therefor it should
be our own' choice.
Ever pick an . icicle off an
eavetrough and hold it upside down
in your hand? If not,' do it,' and
imagine this is your own personal
freedom. You will find that unless
yciu do soinething to stop it, it will
just keep slipping avv,ay until, you
have nothing left.
want it clear. I am notspeaking
out against "the seat belt, only
against losing, our freedom -to
choose for ourselves and I'm asking
everyone, and -.I mean 'everyone,
who feels as. Ido to.please take time
to write a protest letter before it is
too late. Your. kuess is. as good' as
`mine as to 'what they might bring
onto us next.
Please write local M.P. or Bill
Davis. I have petitions 'available
for' anyone who • is interested
enough to circulate some or at least
sign one for us. One of • these
petitions has been left at The
Lucknow Sentinel and I urge you 'to
sign it.
Thank you,
