room in the town hall on Monday
afternoon, Januar? .12th at 1.15
p.m. After grace a' lovely
dessert was served by the commit-
tee of Mrs. Sam Gibson; Mrs. Ray
Leddy, Mrs. Grace Campbell and
Mrs. W. F. MacDonald.
Mrs.. Armstrong' Armstrong Wilson then
welcomed all ' and opened the'
'meeting with • the Ode 'and .Mary
Stevvart Collect. The roll call was
answered 'by 15 membeTs and one
visitor present, telling why Canada
attracts people from• other count
ries. The correspondence and
treasurer's report were given by
the secretary 'Mrs. ° Winnifred
Garnrnie and business was dealt
with.

Mrs. Grace Campbell thanked
the . Institute for • catering to a
Christmas dinner for her in
December. It was decided that the
meetings would be held on the
second Monday of the month in the
afternoon., Thaniwyou notes. were
read from Mr. and Mrs. Joe
MacMillan, Mrs. -Ruth' Helm and
Mr. Alex MacNay.

Mrs. Sam, Gibson took the chair
for.the program and opened with a
'reading "A' Recipe for a Happy
New Year". The motto "To live,
without neighbours is like a-garden ,
without flowers" was well given by
:Mrs.• Raymond Leddy.
Mrs. , Alex MacNay gave two .
readings "Taxes"' and "With
Myself". 'Mrs. Grace Campbell
gave a paper on Mrs.. Olive
Farquharson, Airresident • of
A.C.W.W. and her two months
tour of different countries of the
Carribean area.
• Mrs. Eric Rice gave two very ,
pleasing, piano instrumentals.
Mrs, Sam Gibson conducted ,
contest 'on trees.
Mrs. Grace' Campbell- gave a
demonstration on covering wire
coat hangers. Mrs. W. F.
MacDonald thanked Mrs. Camp-
; bell for' her demonstration and the
meeting closed with the Queen.

Egmondville were Saturday even-
ing 'visitors with Mrs. Gershom
Johnston..
The Lucknovv Pee Wee Hockey
team 'played at Tiverton on
Saturday and lost with a score 4 to 5
in favour of Tiverton. Richard
Moore, one of the players tells us
that in 11 games he has won 10
goals. Good luck Richard! 'Keep on
winning goals.

Mrs. Dan Tiffin was a Sunday
visitor with . Mr. and Mrs. ,Douglas
Tiffin and family of Wingham.
YOUNG PEOPLES SOCIETY
The Y.P.S. held their meeting
Sunday evening, January 11 at
Langside Church.' David Elliott
was leader for the meeting. Hymns
were sung from "Praise Ways".
David opened the meeting with
prayer. He read the scripture,
Proverbs 3: 1,6. Discussion groups
were then 'formed and all were
given a crossword puzzle to work.,
David then led ,in prayer. Barry
Elliott led in an offertory prayer.
It was decided to attend Lucknow
Pinecrest Manor every 2 months.
A letter Was read by Bob Ros's from
the Foster Child they had adopted
at Costa Rica. . On the 25th of
January they decided to attend
Lucknow Christian Reformed
'Church and later have a bowling
social..
The minutes were read by
Wendy Kay. Ann Webster
reported that they be at 'her home
for , a skiing " party 161 Saturday,,
January 17 and Mr.- Dan Webster is
supplying lunch for the party.
Games were then played. Grace
was sung and Itinch served. '

Paul Newman fans will, want to
see "The Drowning Pool" which
opens at the Lyceum January 18.
Newman stars as Lew Harper,
private detective, who is signed on
to a case by a Southern oil heiress,
played by Joanne- WoodWard. Also
starring, in ' the film, are Tony ,
' Franciosa and Melanie Griffith.
"The Drowning Pool" is based
on an adventure novel by Ross
MacDonald.. The action takes place
in the oil-rich region of Louisiana.
The ingredients range all the way
from humour and romance'to shock'
and suspenSe.
On a double bill with • "The
Drowning Pool" is "The. Prisoner
of Second Avenue", starring Jack
Lemmon and. Anne Bancroft. It is
based on the hit Broadway play by
Neil Simon, who also wrote
"Barefoot in the Park" and "The
Last of the Red Hot Lovers". "The
Prisoner of Second Avenue" is a
