South Huron juniors were as
good as Stratford on the' field,
but they fell behind on 'the score-
board and lost their first game

The junior squad managed
eight first downs in their ab-
breviated contest, but failed to
pick up the big ones when they
moved the ball into Stratford
territory,
In the first quarter two South:
Huron fumbles and an inter-
cepted pass enabled the Strat-
ford crew 'to hold the Panther
points, from managing any

South Huron District High
School will be the scene of 'the
1960 •Perthex girls' volleyball
championships on. Thursday.
Junior and senior teams from
Stratford, Listowel, St, • Marys,
Mitchell and South Huron will
compete in the tournament. •
The games will, commence at
10:00 -a.m. and all teams will
play each other with two points
awarded for a win and one point
for a tie, The team finishing
with the most points will be de-
clared, the winner and' wYl, get
the right to advance the
WOSSA -tournament on Saturday',
November 12.

Local. hunting enthusiasts who
were dreaming of a tempting
feed of. pheasant - under - glass,
had their dreams spoiled be-
cause most of the pheasants
were 'under cover.
During the . official season
which closed on Saturday, very
few of the feathery delicacies
ended up on dining room tables.
Local game overseer, Hank
Greene, vas among the for-
tunate, :however, as he bagged
three pheasants during the two-
week period. "They were pretty
scarce though", he stated.. ,

Lucan midgets skated to a 5'2
win over the short-banded Exe-
ter, squad Monday night, while
Lambeth scored. a convincing
8.0 triumph over the local jpve-
nile entry Tuesday evening.
Fred Lamb was the only Exe-
ter player to get on the score
sheet, when' he blasted home
both goals in the midget loss.
The midgets only had eight'
men dressed for the contest, and ;
it was the first time ,players on!
both Exeter minor 'teams had
been on ice this year.
