The Evening Guild of St. Paul's
Anglican Church met in the parish
room on TueadaY evening for the
Christmas meeting. The president,
Mrs. Lloyd Elliott, opened the
meeting with singing of Christmas
carolS and the Lord's prayer. Plans
were made for the purchase of the
railing for the front steps of the
church. Rev. C, F. Johnson presid-

"Miss Dorothe Comber spoke on
the living conditions of japan,
pointing Out the differences in corn-
parison with 'our country,. There
are 90 million people living in
Japan, which is half, the size• of
the province Of Ontario, with a
'growth of one' and a half Million
people 'every year. Only 16 per
cent of the land is usable ,for agri-
culture, With the help of the mis
sionaries education is gradually
becoming modern.
Mrs. Wm. Lockridge gave a
demonstration on the making of
fancy dandles. These candles and
a Chilstrnas centre piece, which
had been donated and made by
Mrs. Joe Kerr, were auctioned off
at the close of the meeting. Mrs.
jack Salterconducted a quiz Which
was won. by Mrs. S. Boucher. Rev.
Johnson closed the meeting. With
prayer and Christmas carols, were
sung.

Grade "ars impersonations of the
members of our teaching staff
brought peals of laughter from the
student body. To put the prog:arn
in the Christinas mood, grade XA
presented an amusing mock
Christmas concert of primary
grades. To promote interest for the
Christmas formal, Mary Lou Dun-
lop and, John Itunstedtler present-
ed a humorous skit in the form Of
a telephone conversation, The
hearty applauSe throughout the
Meeting' gave assurance that this
had been another successful pro-
grant

ST. PAUL'S CHILDREN
PRESENT ‘CONCERT
The children of St, Paul's 'Ang-
lican Sunday School met in the
parish room of the -chu,rch , on
Thursday evening when they en-
joyed their annual supper. The
parents and friends joined thein at
7.30, when a concert was 'presented
by the youngsters, under' the
chairmanship of Rev. C. F. John-
son

tions were 'given' Oy. Edith Austiri,
Linda Elliott, Brenda VanCainp
and David Slade.
Jacqueline Saint;, Alma Jane
Elliott and, Brtepda Tian each gave
readings and solos were sung by
Brian MacKay and Barbara Hall,
Patricia and , Dianne` Deyell and
Wendy Cronkwright and Alma,
Jane Elliott sang, duets. During the
evening Marilyn Higgins played
two piano selections.
The ,,bpginriers class, with their
teacher, Miss Patricia Deyell at
the piano, sang "Away in a Man-
ger". Mrs. Norman Deyell's prim-
ary girls presented an. exercise in
recitation and the primary boys,
whose teacher is Miss Karen
Swanson, performedd a similar
number.
The junior choir, under the dir-
ection of Mrs. Gordon Davidson
sang "Silver I3ells", and Mrs, Nor-
man Cronkwright's class of junior
boys sang "Silent Night". '
The senior 'hoys and girls pre-
sented a skit, ,"Sudaen Riches".
Mrs. CI: F. Johnson and. Ben Keats
are the teachers of the 'senior
classes. Members of the A.Y.P.A.
took part in three blackout skits,
Christmas carols were sung at
intervals during the program, Miss
Pat Deyell and Mrs. Davidson sup
plied 'the accompaniment for the
carola,and Musical numbers.
Santa Claus arrived amid cheer;;
and applause from the children
and was assisted In distributing
candy and oranges by Alvin Rig-
gins and Norman Cronkwright.
The white gifts that were dona-
ted have been sent to Godbrich
where they will be distributed by'
the Children's Aid Society.
