Christmas Meeting
United Church WMS
"Love came down at Christmas,
Love all lovely, Love divine;
Love was Born at Christmas,
Stars and angels gave the sign."
This was the theme :For . the
Christmas meeting of the Fordwich
United Church W.M.S. The execu-
tive were hostesses for the pro-
gram, whieh was held in the sea-,
soiiahly decorated basement of the
church. Forty-one ladies and vis-
itors answered the : roll call on
Chriitinas Love. The minutes
were read and approved and the
treasurer gave.. a very encouraging
report,' The supply committee re-
ported that bales to the value of.
4230:35 had l:'`en paekecl and sent..
The report . of the nominating
committee teas received and . ac-
cepted. All officers ,were declared
elected by past president Mrs.
VP. P, Cooper. The offering was
received and Mrs, Harold ]Doig led
in prayer.
A prologue to Christmas was
read by Mrs, K. S. Graham and. the
•
carol ."Silent Night"was sung. The
candle lighting ceremony, iVas pre-
sented in an exercise called "The
Christmas Garland". Mrs. Stan
Bride was leader. Mrs. George
Ashton, Mrs, J. H. Pollock, Mrs.
Parker Eurig, Mrs. Norman Har-
ding, Mrs, Carl Ettinger and Mrs.
E., Williamson brought the mes-
sages of The •Bells, The,Holly, The
Pine Cone, The Ribbon, The Green
Leaves and The SnoW,
The Scripture lessons were read,
Mrs. W. E, Iiainstock reading 91e
story of "The Annunciation" . and
Miss Minnie McElwain sang a solo,
"Give to Our God Immortal
Praise", Mrs, W, P. C?oper read
the story of The Birth and enrol

Shepherds and earol "While 'Shep-
lierds Watched Their Flocks: was

, Mrs, A. Gardiner showed a film
strip, "Silent Night", on a new
Projector whii'h Santa Claus had
Brought 'ahead of time to the
•ehureh. tiIVe girls from the Jun-
ior Croup or the C.C,.IY`I', came to
sing a medley of carols.
Tile meeting closed With the. ben-
t'diction. The town group served
refreshments and a social tittle
was enjoyed.

ing of the Woman's. Association. of
Fordwich United- Church was held
in the Sunday School rooms... The
president, Mrs. Glenn Johnston,',
was in charge • of the devotions.. The
Christmas :lesson was. read from
the Bible.
The. secretary_ read • the minutes.
and announced the Lions supper to
be' catered to December 30th and
committees were 'named to look af-
ter the event. The purchase• of a
new ch
. esterfield- or, slip ;covers for
the parsonage Was discussed and
the matter was left over to the
committee. '
The treasurer reported $165.58
in proceeds from the bazaar and.
the canvass taken in place of the
fowl supper, $329.00.. A donation
was made to .the War Memorial
Children's Hospital. The names
of shut-ins for remembrance at
Christmas were given.
Mrs. A. Gardner conducted the.
election of officers and Mrs.Har-
old •Doig introduced the guest
speaker, Miss Carol Bartlett, of
California, who is .visiting in` the
community, She gave a very+.in-
teresting "travelogue with slides of
her trip through Europe ,-She
spent from March till October with
her parents in Germany: Her, fa-
ther is with the United States
army.
White Gifts Are
Presented at S.S.
FOROWICH—'rhe Sunday Schodl
of the Fordwich United Church
held their annuai''White Gift ser-
vice during the morning worship
service in the church. The classes
entered in a body and took their
places at the front, Each class
presented its .money gift in a White
stocking which was hung on a
Christmas Tree. Mr, A. F. Gardi-
ner told the story of the Little
Lamb given by a thankful little
boy. A• projector given to the
church was cl'edicated at this ser -
