Rainbow Club Holds
Christmas Meeting.
The annual Christmas banquet
of the Mary Hastings. Rainbow
Club was held in the Legion. Hall
on Thursday, December 5th. Fifty
members enjoyed the turkey din-
ner which was served by the Leg-
ion ladies. The tables were taste-
fully decorated for Christmas, as
well as a Christmas , tree.
After dinner a short business
•meeting was held and donations
are to be sent to the Salvation
Army and Central Executive, Mr.
Cartier, public relations officer
from London, brought greetings to
the ladies as well as Mrs. Liver_.
more and Mrs, Bowman.
A draw for a comforter was won
by Mrs. Ernest Casemore. After
the exchange of Christmas gifts• a
short program was 1?eid consisting
of carol :singing, readings by Mrs.
Balser, Mrs. Drehmann and Mrs.
Hutchison, Harmonica numbers
were played by Mrs! Cowan, ac-
conipanied by" Mrs. Cruickshank,
Mrs. FTenry and Mrs. Sanderson
sang a duet, after which Mr.
Cantelon took pictures of several
groups. .
The next regular • meeting will
beheld in the Oddfellow's Hall .on
Tuesday, January 7th, with Lavina
Robinson, Bertha .Henderson, Mae
Blatchford, Lola 1, Sanderson and
Olive Walker as joint hostesses. •

Women's Missionary Society Was
held on Tuesday : afternoon, 1740 -

ec-ember 3rd, Mrs. Alexander -Nimmo
presided and opened the, meeting
with a Yuletide message,. "Be .still
and, know that x am God.'' Miss
Kathleen Kringle led in a prayer
for Divine guidance In. the New
Year.
Following the reading of '•tit
reports of the secretary -and •tree,+
urer, Mrs. Leslie Fortune intra;-
duced the Christmas topic by
reading a poem entitled "The
Greatest Miracle -Christmas and
the Baby Jesus": Mrs, A. Hastings
read the :Scripture story of the
birth of Christ. In an interesting
and inspiring message, Mrs. For-
tune likened the Infant Jesus to
a magnet with the golden chain,
of love drawing all people to Hhn.
As the ,people of old ; presented
their gifts, so the group brought
its offering, which was dedicated
in prayer by Mrs. E. R. Harrison.
Not only groups of people were
drawnbut many individuals.
Mrs. Donald Rae sang the
beautiful solo, "There Is Room In
My Heart for Thee". A prayer was,
offered that we might again see
the .: miracle of Christman and
open our hearts to its message.
The singing of the hymn, "What
a Friend We Have in Jesus" and
prayer . by Mrs. J. McI ague
brought this portion of the meet-
ing to a close
Annual reports were presented
showing gratifying progress in all
departments during the past year,
The society suffered the loss of
several faithful and Valuedmem-
bers. The report of the nominating
committee was read by Mrs. T. A,
Currie and the following officers
for 1958 Were installed by 'Rev, A.
Nimrno. Prayer by Mrs. i. For-
tune closed the meeting.

in the council chamber.. Bills were W�
presented for large quantities of
sheeting, flannelette, • etc;, made•
necessary by extra patients at the
hospital,, ,
The cutting .committee reported
having cut 376 articles -during No-
vember, This was followed by the
work of the seu+ing groups, which
made' up X240 .completed articles,
including .adult, gowns, sereen cur-
tains, pyjamas;- nurserysupplies,
etc.
It was decided to make a cash
donation to provide Christmas de-
corations for the hospital and cash
prizes were authorized for the best
decorated windows at Christina;
time. .
Owing to the, New sy'ear' holiday,,
the annual. meeting' will •be held on
Friday, January • 10, ..when reports'
of the year '1957 will be heard.
