Practical Value'
.AndAmasin,
Many lar Wingham and .district
have seen Dr. Edwin. Heath, 'hyp,
notistt, perform and are quite
aware of the fun in store wbt'n lu•
appears in the town hall on
Thursday, Friday and Saturday
evening of this week..
According to Mr, Heath, hypnosis.
Is a condition into which any
normal, intelligent „person can be
tlaced. It is nothing to fear, but
agreeable sensation, Qf • profound
on the contrary is, an extremely
rest and relaxation, unless, the
subject is attempting to resist,
which may develop. a sense of fr us,
tration and consequent unpleasant
nosy.
A native of London, England, lie
started his career as a hypnotist
while serving in the army during
World War II, Camp
life and the
soldiers'
desire for entertainment
provided an abundance of oppor-
tunity to improve his skills.
While serving with the para-
troopers he was •dropped over
Prance the night before D+Day.
During the campaign he was able
to give relief to the wounded
through .hypnotism. Later, when
lie was .himself wounded in both
legs hewas able to hypnotize him-
self
i -self to relieve the pain until medi-
cal assistance was available.
Hypnotism is an artificaily pro-
duced sleep during which timb. the
subject is more or less under the
control of the hypnotist and sen-
sitive only to the suggestions made.
by him. During the war two. Brit-
ish doctors in prison canip used it
for many minor operations when.
there were no anaesthetics left..
A true master of his art, Mr.
Heath amazes his audience with
his speed and naturalness. He
creates amusement but never of-
fends good taste.
