Anglican Chureh was held at the
home of Mrs, Marshall. Armstrong
with Mrs, Ruby Feater, president,
in Charge of the ,meeting which
opened with the hymn "peace, per,„
feet Peace". Mrs. Spence Brears
read the Seripture lesson, 12th
chapter of St, Mark, verses 4t-44.
The third chapter of the study
book was ,discussed, with Mrs,
Crosby 'Sotherri in charge. This
chapter dealt with changes in ru-
ral Japan since the, war and the
spread of Christianity in rural
areas.

and Mrs, A. Taylor, Mrs: C. Gil-
pin and Mrs. Ferguson were ap-
pointed as the 'nominating com-
mittee. Mrs, A, Taylor gaVe a re-
port on the sectional meeting at
Bluevale. She told the story of
Mary plight, who moved to a new
place, attended the Auxiliary and
thought the meeting dull. She ask-
ed to be press reporter and wrote
the account of what they were do-
ing in a very interesting way.
An overseas relief bale contain-
ing used clothing, etc., and weigh-
ing 124 lbs., waapeeked in October
and sea to Toronto, The Auxiliary
has two missionaries for whom the
members offer silent prayer at
each meeting,
Mrs. Galbraith closed the meets
ing with' prayer and lunch Was
served by the hostess and the corn-
inittee.

AT WINTER FAIR
The Huron County judging team,
comprised of Raymond Cann, R.R.
3 Exeter, Murray Dawson, R.R. 1
Hensel]. and Bruce Coleman, R.R.
4 Seaforth stood third in. the com-
petition with 27 other teams in•
this year's inter-county competia
'dons. The winning team in the
competition was. trOre Peel County
and the second place team from
Brant. •
The, Huron County team was the
runner-up for the Ontario Veterin-
ary Challenge. Trophy for the Beef
Cattle Section, which was won by
Huron_ County's 1956 team. As in-
dividuals .all three members of the
Huron team .were in the, top 20,
the only team irathis year's compe-
tition with this, standing, 'Bruce
Coleman tied for 15th _place with
884 points; Murray Dawson. .tied
for 17th place with 68S and Rasa
mond. Cann was 20th with 879 out
of 1,000 points.. .
Rayinond Cann was the high in-
dividattI in the Beef ISection for
the entire competition and receiv-
ed the Royal 'Winter Fair Gold
Medal, "Which is awarded to the

In the 4-H Grain Section the eh-

which there Were. 92 entries, Ken
Alton, R.R. 7 Lucknow, a, member
of the Lucknow 4-11 Grain Club
exhibited the 13th' prize barley in
the 4-H Club Section.

WHITECHURCII — The Farm
Forum met on Monday evening at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Russell
Purdon with 15 present. After the
broadcast two groups, discussed
the subject and decided that what
Was needed was ,lower priced ma-
chiriety for the 'smaller farms, as
the big machinery is too costly,
They thought the quality could he
improved; as most machinery noW
is only workable 'for a fear Years.

Behnore Happy, • Helpers Mission
Band was held at the manse on
Thuraday of last Week and Open-
ed with games, "after which ,the
members repeated the Mission
Band Purpose. The leader read a

West was in charge of the worship,
during' which Nancy Elliott led in
prayer.
There were eight members pre-

Studies Fabrics
The third meeting of the Happy
Sewing. Circle was held at the
home of the assistant leader, on.
Monday at 7.30 p.m, Eight mem-
bers answered the roll call, with

charge, The minutes of the last
meeting were adopted as read.
Mrs. Lapp • gave the members
some interesting details , on the
warp, yarns and weft yarns, and
showed Which was which, /The
prinlepals of weaving were also
explained. The girls were then
shpwn the method of stay stitch-
ing by means of a sketch and by
actual. dernonstration.
, A small test was made on the
grain of fabric and how to tell
which, was the'.grain. The members
were also shown how to make tai-
lor's tacks. A home assignmentaof
writing up the third meeting and
putting the first and second meet-
ings in the books, and shrinking
and pressing a sample of material
was given.
The meeting eiosed at this point.
The next one will be held on Mon-
day evening..at 7 o'clock.

people had responded to the ap-
peal, so it was decided to extend
the time of collection, hoping that
folk who had forgotten would not
MiSs this opportunity to help those
in dire need in that unfortunate
land. A number of small garments
for the missionary for prayer, `Miss
Florence Grouchy, of India, were

made. Twenty of these garments
Were brought to *the meeting and
are being sent to their destination
immediately.
A new member was welcomed
and an offer of blocks for a crib
quilt was accepted, to be made up
and quilted at a future date. Mrs.
H. Patterson reported on the re-
cent bale sent to Dr, Palmer's hos-
pital in Hazeltori, B.C., which was
acknowledged by a )etter from
Mrs. 'Palmer, a former Member of
the society,
The secretary read a letter ack-
nowledging a gift of money to
Miss Laura, Collar, missionary on
furlough from Nigeria, Africa, who
had presented 'her colored movies'
at an open meeting in October
and had also been guest speaker
for the fall thanitoffering meeting.
Members were urged to save
all their used postage stamps and
used Christmas cards, It was de-
cided 'members would hold a pot
luck supper at the conclusion of
the December meeting to be held
in the church school room.
A letter regarding supply work,
resplesting gifts for six boys, ageS
10-13 years, broug,ht forth the sew-
gerition each member bring a cash
donation to the December meet-
ing and these gifts be purchased
