On 'Grainger Farm

Grainger have lied a new steel
barn erected' by Heimpel of Pres-
ton, to replace one destroyed by
fire. This building is 40x73 feet.
It was when construction of the
foundation was in 'progress that
Wilbur Grainger was severely in-
jured, when the caterpillar tractor
he was operating overturnedon

General Hospital ,forover three
months, ' Last week the bast was
removed but lie' is still confined
to the hospital, `

Plans were made for the Christ-
mas tea, bazaar and rummage sale
on November 23rd. The remainder
of the meeting' was spent .on work
for .the bazaar. Lunch Was :served
by the hostess assisted` by Mrs.
Earl King:
The roll call was "Why I' don't
take office". The motto which was
prepared by Mrs. Harry Rhame
and read by lags, Morley Johnston,
was ."If we cannot do great things,
we can do little things in a big
'way." It concluded with the poem'

Are;' by Russell Mallick.

Mrs. Chas. Finlay
Dies in Listowel
GORRIE—The community was
saddened. on Saturday 'morning :to
learn of the .death of Mrs, Chas.
Finlay in the Listowel Memorial
Hospital'. She was in her 67th year.
On October 25th she suffered a
broken leg in a, fall, but her con-
dition was apparently satisfactory
and death was unexpected.
She was the former Flora .Edna
Earl, a daughter of the late Thos.
Bari and Mary Walker, and had
lived in Howick Township all her
life. After her marriage' to Chas.
Finlay they farmed on the B line
retiring to Gorrie some ten years
ago.
She wa's a atieli•Iber of the Gorrie
Presbyterian Church , and of the
W.M.S. and Ladies' Aid, and was
a kindly neighbor:
Surviving to mourn her lossbe-
sides her husband are one daugh-
ter, Mrs, Ambrose (Irene) O'Con-
nor), Oakwood; . two brothers,
Leslie of Ethel and Ross of 'How -
ick; five sisters, Mrs. Wm . Lath-
ers, Howick, Mrs, Jennie Edgar,
London, Mrs. Arnold Halliday, I
Wingham, Mrs. Roy Gowdy .and
Mrs, Harry Gowdy, both of Hovir-
ick, and one granddaughter.
Funeral service was held at the
Moir funeral home on Monday at
2.30 p.m. with the Rev. W. J. S.
McClure in charge, Interment was
in Gorrie Cemetery. . •
Pallbearers were Earl Halliday,
Chester Earl,' Robti, Earl, Tom
Edgar, Everitt Wright and Charlie
Finlay.

proving very interesting and in-
structive and attendance has kept
up well.
