a turkey supper and surprise re-

.About 60 sat down to the sup-
per, after which William Fish
acted as toastmaster and toasted
the bride and groom. Mr, Gordon
Fisher presented them with a cab-
inet of silver and a coffee service.
Other local friends dropped in dur-
ing the evening to congratulate the
bride and groom and the evening
was spent in caids and dancing.

meeting of the W.M.S. was held on
Tuesday afternoon at the home of
Mrs. R. Chamney with nine ladies.

over the meeting and hymn 500
was sung in opening. The Scrip-
ture lesson was read by Mrs, II.
Jefferson and prayer was offered
by the leader, Psalm 696 was read
in unison. Mrs. Ray Hanna read
a poem entitled "Consolation", The
minutes of the last meeting were
approved as read and the offering
was received by Linda Jefferson.
Mrs. James Leddy read "A Thanks-
giving Prayer°.
The new study book on Japan
was introduced by Mrs. Ed. Robin-
son. Another hymn was sung in
closing and a bazaar was held.
Lunch was,served by the hostess,
assisted byeafrs. E, Snowden and
Mrs, Hardy.

attended the reception held in the
memorial hall here on Friday even-
ing in honor of the newlyweds,
Mr. and Mrs. Carl MeCIenaghart.
During the evening Hugh Simp-
son called the bride and groom tb
the front and James Gaunt pre-
sented them with a purse of money.
The groom responded, thanking
their friends for the gift and kind-
ness towards them. All joined in
singing, "For They Are Jolly Good
Fellows". •

Day service was held in the United
Church on Sunday when Robert
Laidlaw, superintendent of the
Sunday School, condticted the ser-
vice. The junior choir was in at-
tendance,
Muriel Moore led in the Scripture
lesson and Gary Chapman read
the story from the special program
for the day.
Rev. lin A. Brook spoke on
"Thanksgiving" and the special
reasons we, in this distrien.have to
be thankful, mentioning the his-
tory making visit of the Queen and
the part religion plays in our gov-
ernments, showing fair dealing and
Christian brotherhood.

Christina, baby daughter of Mr.
