Mr. and Mrs. Wm, Fisher of Timmins spent the week-end at the borne of Mr. and Mrs. George Fisher. On -Saturday evening these and the following, relatives gather- ed in the Memorial Hall here for a turkey supper and surprise re- ception for Mr, and Mrs. George Fisher who were celebrating their daltit wedding anniversary: Mr, and Mrs. Eldon Lowry and family of Lurgan; Mrs. Margaret Carruthers and daughters of Rip- ley; Mr. and Mrs, John Carruthere and daughters of Sarnia; Mrs. El- liott Carruthers and family and Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Carruthers and family of Holyrood; Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Forster and children of Lucknow; Mr. and Mrs. Duncan Simpson and John of Kintall; Mrs. Stu hers of Londoe; Marion Mac- Tavish, Toronto; Miss Joan Mar- shall, Gulross; Allin Mayor of Ripley; Bird en Mowbray and Don- ald, MeIntyre, Lucknow; Jimmie West and Elmer .McKenzie, Kin- tan. and Mrs. M. Mr, Gordon Fisher presented them with a cab- inet of silver and a coffee service. Chamney with nine ladies. present. ,Charles jefferson presided over the meeting and hymn 500 was sung in opening. The Scrip- ture lesson was read by Mrs, II. Jefferson and prayer was offered by the leader, Psalm 696 was read in unison. Mrs. Ray Hanna read a poem entitled "Consolation", The minutes of the last meeting were approved as read and the offering was received by Linda Jefferson. Mrs. James Leddy read "A Thanks- giving Prayer°. The new study book on Japan was introduced by Mrs. Ed. Robin- son. Another hymn was sung in closing and a bazaar was held. Lunch was,served by the hostess, assisted byeafrs. During the evening Hugh Simp- son called the bride and groom tb the front and James Gaunt pre- sented them with a purse of money. The groom responded, thanking their friends for the gift and kind- ness towards them.
