As Mrs. Metcalfe drove away she failed to see that Mae Ross had', climbed Intothe trunk with her son. As the slowly -.moving car neared the Ross home the boys realized that Mrs. Metcalfe would not stop to let Mac out, so he jumped to the road and in the resulting fall was knocked unconscious. The Met calfe boy's shouts attracted 'his mother's attention and she at once returned to where Mac 'had fallen.
