population. The expansion of edu-'
cational facilities at the Wingham'
school since 1950 has .cost nearly
$290,000. The- school's lastest addi-
tion will provide accommodation
for an extra '140 pupils:
Designed by Hamilton architects,
Kyles & Kyles, with Wilfred G.
White as the contractor, the new
addition has been under construe=
tion since last October.
Pleasing Colors ' '
A special .feature' of • the extra
classrooms is the "color harmony"
of the interior decoration. A sola
tific study of color and the effects
it • creates was instituted in Norway
and Sweden and in the United
States shortly after the last war
and the Outcome, of this research
is embodied in most of today's
classrooms, •
in Wingham's new wing the pre -
dominent color is lime green with
overtones of brown and ' beige.
These colors singly, and in com-
bination, the .experts say, are the
torics most conducive to the pro-
cess' of learning. •'This particular
interibr• • decoration, scheme is
,known as the "dynamic color
system" and is now used through-
out' the new school section.
This seemsa far cry from color
dynamids to the "little red school-
house" of yesteryear, yet it is less
than 100 years since Winghalii's
Usk public school was built.

cher's room, principal's office and

signed so that a classroom and

The lighting fixtures through-
put are ofthe fluorescent •shadow -
less type, ceilings are accoustic
tiled and the desks and other fur-
nishings are of the most modern
design. One 'wall of each room is
