Night glasses are to be started
at the school in October.. Metal:.
work, home. economics, boek-keep-
ing and typing are to be among the
subjects taught. About 50 peeple
took advantage cif the, night class-
es last year.
D: MacWilliam was made
chairman of the school's manage-
ment committee and ,Mr, Petta-
piece was appointed to this com-
mittee as well as to the agricul-
tural committee.
Roy Cousin; a member of the
finance conunittee; asked if the 25c
charge per dinner is. stiffitient to
cover the cost of food for the
school meals. Dr, McKibben. 'said
that the charge is „ just sufficient
to meet the cost ofethe food used
in the preparation of the meal and
is not intended to carry the cost
of kitchen staff wages or other ex-
penses' involved. The school prin-
cipal said that the piofit from
the sale of books and supplies
in the future be applied to the op-
eration of tIse• kitchen. He also
stated that more than 400 meals. a
day had recently been served at
the school.
A request for an increase in
kitchen staff wages was discuased
and it was decided to. leave this
matter to the appropriate commit-
tee for -consideration, '
The new board member, ,Ta.rnie-
several complaints from 'parents
about over -crowded sehool ,huses.
It Was agreed that the "transpor-
tation committee would loek' into
this matter immediately.
R. S. Hetherington, property
committee member, said that there
were no guard rails nor fence 'pro-
tecting the guy -wires of the OKNX
antenna which were on. the schOol
property •and in case of .accidents,
the school at the moment hid no
legal protection. When the guy
wires 'were erected, said Itikr. Beth-
eringten there was a mutual agree-
ment between the schOol board and
CICNX that' a fence' would 'be mit
up. So far this has not been done
and sorhethiog ought to .be done as
scion as possible to protect the
board in the event of any. aocidents
caused by the wires. ' '
James S. Armstrong, chairman:of
