A happy and unusual (mast=
Was celebrated on Saturday when
a reunion of the descendants of the
late Hector MacKay and Caihar-
ine MacDonald was held at the
home' of Mr. and Mrs, Angus Fal-
eoner, Whitechureh. Among. the 97
present were the Rey, Angus Mac-
Kay 'and MrseMaeleay, 'who recent-
ly returned from jhansi, India,
where they have lived, for many
years,. They only manage a leave
to this country about once ,every
seven -years 'and the 'reunion was
Planned to, cOincide with their visit
thie• year.

TWO GIFTED ARTISTS
FOR ARMY RALLY
What should 'prove to be one of
the year's most important, musical
events in the religious life of this
community is planned tor the
Week-end of 'Saturday - Sunday
September 7 and 8 next.
Two members of an organization
known as the "Open Air Cam-
paigners" are coming, to' Wingham,
on those dates, to conduct Rally
Day services at •the local corps of
the Salvation Army.
Doug Gibb, the first member 'of
the team, was a high executive of
the Ford Company pf Australia,
before coming to Canada about a
year ago, to, organize the work of
the Open Air Campaigners in this
country, He had formerly ,been
professional member of a well-
known group of 'harmonica play-
ers, "deem tinder', and brings all'
of his outstanding' musical prowess
Into his Gospel work. Together
with the other member of the
team, he took Toronto children by
Storm during „ the Billy Graham
Creator Toronto Crusade, He is a
powerful preacher, with a message
for young and old alike—but he
says, "I have a special place for
the teenager-e-and all children".

Doctor .Establishes
ursary- Fund
Announcement was made by
Western University this week that
'Dr. and Mrs, W, A, McKibben, of
Wingham, have establigned abur-
sary fund to aid pre-mediCal 'stud-
ents attending that university. The
fund whiCh will be 'known as the
Bill McKibben Memorial 'Fund
Bursary, is in memory of their ten
year old son who died earlier this
year.
The fund, which has been estab-
lished in the amount of $10,000,
will be available be .one student
each yeate paying $500 to a scholar
in the pre-medical course who is
in .rieed of such assistance, main-
tains a "B" academic standing and
has demonstrated general profic-
iency in all studies and university
activities. . The money is to be
available to the student through-
out the six year medical course,
Dr. McKibben is a' graduate of
the University of Western Ontario

AT EIGHTY-SEVEN
Jarnes Douglas, of Gbrrie, will
cerebrate his 87th birthday on
Tuesday, September 3rd., probably
with a :gama of bowls on the green
at the side of his home,,
Mr. Deuglas built the bowling
green on the lawn of his home
more than fifteen years ago and
now it Is a regUlar centre for
bowling enthusiasts from Gorrie
and the 'surrounding district,
teormerly of Belmore, where he
farmed , for many years, Mr. Doug-
las has been "a °cirri° resident
since 1932 and has the distinction
Of, literally bringing bowling to
Gerrie. —
He lives with .his daughter and
son-In-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ewart
Whitfield, who have planned a big
occasion to celebrate his birthday
next Tuesday. '
Mr. Douglas remains in excellent
health and except for a slight deaf-
ness,. feels "as good as he ever did".
He told our reporter he was look-
ing forward to the curling seaeori
getting .underway dialn so that
he weld enjoy the sport which is
the next best thing to bowling. '

Sunday Concert
Held in Park
The first Sunday evening band
concert to `be held for several years
took place in the Wingham town.
Park on Sunday night, when the
members of the Wingham Lions
Club Boys' and Girls' Band, under
the direction of A, C, Robinson, of
London, presented a one-and-a-half
hour program Of music to a large
and appreciative audience. It was
the first time since its formation
that' the band has performed on
the bandstand.
The program on Sunday evening
opened with the playing' of "0
Canada" and ranged from stirring
Marches to poptdar music. The
audience, mainly seated in parked
care because of the rather cold
night air, gave the band and its
eendttetor a grand ovation ..by
