Clifford park last Thuraday. Clif-
ford took the lead in the first in-
ning 1-0, In, the third inning Clif-
ford made the score 5-0 and added
two more in the fifth inning,
In. the sixth inning Wingham
scored its only' run but Clifford
scored two more runs in the bot-
tom of the sixth.
G, Griss went the distance, limit-
ing the locals to,six hits and strik-
ing out nine, Clifford played error-
less ball. Bob St. Marie started for
Wingham and was relieved by
Jack Hotchkiss in the fourth in-
ning. Wingham had 'five miscues.

Swamped the Wingham .squad 20-7
in the Wine-lain park on Sattirday
night, The game was close Until
the fifth inning, with Ripley, lead-
ing 6-3. In the •sixth, inning the
whecla fell off for Wirigham as
Ripley went wild and sch'red nine
runs to make the spore of 15-3,
Ripley went on to score -f,our runs
in the seventh and one run in the
eighth.
Wingharn scored twn runs in the
eighth and ninth innings. '
Don Blue went the distance for
giVing up eight hits and
striking out seven, Ripley had, one
error, Gord Welwood started for
Wingham but was relieved by
Walt Brown in the sixth, Brown
also needed help in the sixth and
Bill Hotchkisi came in to finish,
the game, Wingha,rn committed
six errors,
Hugh Mason smashed a grand
slam homer for Ripley. Don Har-
rison, also homered for Ripley.
Barry Wryfogle homered for Wing-
ham.

The Kincardine Midgets trounc-
ed the Wingham Midgets 12-1 in
Kincardine on Monday night.
The Kincardine boys held the
edge,' throughout the whole game
taking a 2-0 lead in the first
inning.
Wingham came through with
their only ona in the sixth inning
when Pete Nesmith singled home
Bill Thompson, Bev MacLean
started for Kincardine giving up
one hit and striking out eight..
Ted Better relieved MacLean in'
the fifth inning, Better gave up
two hits and struck out eight.
Kincardine made two errors. .

Soil was held at the home of Mary
Elliott on Tuesday, June 25th,. at
8 p.m. The meeting was opened by
everyone repeating the Pledge, The
reading of the minutes by secre-
tary Dorothy McNee followed. The
'girls were asked for answers ,to
the roll ,,all, which was "A name
for the club and a vegetable wh,lch
needs thinning." There Were a
great many names suggested' for
the club but they , were finally
brought down to 3 and voted on.

next meeting on July 19 at 'the
home of Norma Harper' at 8 p.m.

The second meeting of the Vege-
table Queens was held on June 22,
at the home of the leader, Mrs
W. T, Lapp, with eight members
present. After repeating the 4-H
pledge and motto the roll call was
answered by a garden vegetable
which required thinning.
The third meeting was planned
for one of the last Saturdays in
July. The secretary read the
minutes of the last meeting which
vvere adopted as read. Following
an interesting discussion on worm
and pest control the leader 'show-
ed the girls the correct method of
cooking vegetables WI Means Of

Since this was the time for
thinning, transplanting, etc., each
One of the members had a chance
to thin or tranaplant One vegetable.
The home assignment consisted
Of keeping up record books, filling
in pages 0, 6., 1, 8 in the members'
pamphlet, cooking two vegetables
