stitute 'met at the. borne of Mrs.
Stanley Darling en June lath, with
Miss Ruby Duff presiding: The roll
call Was • arfswered by naming a
favorite sport,
Mrs,. Walter Smillie was conven-
er for the meeting, the program
being under the heading of cern-
munity activities and public re-
lations, It was an interesting and
varied program.
Mrs. Carl Johnston described
vegetables to serve with. various
meats which had been prepared
for the last meeting. She stressed
variety and color in the menus,
Mrs. Bert Garniss Spoke on the
motto, "What kind .of organization,
would our Institute be, if every
member were just, like me?" She
told of the value of Institute activi-
ties and showed how everyone
could have a share in' them.
A pleasing feature was the sing-
ing of duets by Mrs, Harvey Rob-
ertson and Mrs. C. B. Hoffman,
Mrs, M. NfcFarlane playing the ac-
companiments. This was followed
by community singing.'
Bob Carbert, of CKNX, substitu-
ting for Johnny Brent, gave in de-
scriptive detail an account of his
recent trip to 'Venezuela. He was
one •of three men in charge of a
large shipment of Ontario cattle
to Venezuela. Venezuela, though
governed by a dictator, is making
remarkable progress. It is so rich
in oil, which has been developed
chiefly by Americans, that there
are millions of money available to
the government for building up
the country. Six-lane roads, fine
buildings, good hospitals and
schools are some of the improve-
ments in cities. The country people
are still living in primitive .con-
ditions but these are being chang-
ed as rapidly as, possible. Mr. Car-
bert is a fluent speaker with a
fund of humor.
Arrangements were made for a
bus trip to Goderich On JULY 18th
