John Henry Turner
Dies in Nitchener
WHITECHURCH — Word was,
received here on Friday of- the
passing of John Henry Turner,
after a month's illness, in, Kitchen-
er Hospital in his 74th year.
Born in Kinloss, he was for many
Years a resident of W. Wawanosh.
He was twice married. His firer
wife, Miss Wall, 'predeceased him
about firty-five years ago. To
-them were born two daughters,
Mrs. Jas. (Fanny) Stanley' of Kin-
cardine and Mrs. Redg. (Ruby) La-
ois, London, He then married Mary
Patterson of W. Wawanosh, who
with their one daughter, Mrs. Don-
old (Etta) Jackson of Wallet:-
stein, and two sons, Will and Car-
man of Kitchener, survive, They
'have eighteen grandchildren and
several great grandchildren, About
thirty years ago the family moved
to „Kitchener.
The funeral was held en Tues-
day from the Mckenzie-MeLenn•an
funeral home . at Lucknow , to
Greenhill cemetery. The , many
friends of the family, in this &s-
trict .extend sympathy to the be-
reaved families.
BEEF CALF CLUB
JUDGES HEIFERS
The May meeting of the 4-H
Blyth-Belgrave Beef Calf Club
was held at Bill Taylor's farm on
Monday, May 27. The meeting was
opened at 8.30 p.m. by. Glenn Coul-
tes, followed by the 44H pledge.
A, S. Bolton was present and
gave some very useful hints on
how, to judge beef cattle. The
members then judged a class of
four•Shorthorn •heifers and every
member gave •oral •reasons for the
choice, 4-H project signs were
then given •to •all the members,
A vote` of thanks was given by
Ken Coultes' to Mr,. Taylor, for hay-
ing the group at 'his farm for the
meeting and judging. The mem-
bers 'were invited into the house
Where a delicious lunch was enjoy-
ed by all: A vote of thanks was
extended to Mrs. Taylor by Doreen
Howatt. Jim •Coultes moved the

The Ontario Beef Producers met
in Toronto for their annual meeti;
ing on May 27th with a little larg-
er number in attendance than last
year, , Robert McGregor, John
Armstrong and yeur County Fed-4
'eration of Agriculture fieldman,
represented Huron.
Luke Pearsall, Livestock Com-
missioner, Ottawa, was guest
speaker and enlightened us with
some interesting facts. In 1950
Canada .exported 32% of 'her beef
production. In 1956 Canada was
not an exporter of beef, yet in
1956, a record amount of beef was
produced in Canada.

All Junior Farmers of Huion
County 'will be attending the Jun-
iorFarmers' church service to be
held in James Street United
Church, Exeter, on June 1 23. This
was decided at •the Huron County
Jarilor Farmers executive meeting
held on May 29, in Clinton. Rev.
H. J. Snell will be the special
speaker, assisted by the. Huron
County Junior Farmers' Choir.
Plans were 'completed for the
Perth-Huron Field Day to be held
in Mitchell on June 8, and the .proe
vincial field day on June 15, in;
Guelph. A full slate of -entries•isa
scheduled,
A three-day bus. trip to Ottawa
and surrounding district, Including
Central Ekperimental Farms, Pare,
liament Building, St. LaWrerice
Seaway project and Kenmtville
Agricultural College is being plan,
ned for sometime iii the last
weeks of July. This is an. excellent
opportunity and it .is hoped all
Juniors -will take. advantage of it.
Delegates from North. Huron and

camp early in September.
Each club in the county is to
put on a fifteen minute program at
the Blyth Fair on September 17.
