Hullo Folks!
A few years ago when new cars were hard to get some pretty
grim jokes werg told at the pcpense of car dealers. Some of 'the
cynieism involved,in the joltes was :probably deserved, - No garden
is' Completely free of pests.
-,"Sure, I'll sell yeti a car at list price:, a dealer would be quot-'
ed as saying. "Ofecourse, I'll, have to charge you for the extras --.
$500 for an engine and $200 If you want a front seat". ,
jokes around. Or,perhaps I should say jokers.
Friend of mine brought this to nay attention the other day
with a story of his experience. He had seen .a newspaper ad in
one of the ;big-city papers full of bold 'type and bold statements
offering :cars at' fantastically low, prices.
•He went in to see what it was all about; he
felt he' couldn't afford to do, otherwise. He had
a fairly 'new car to trade in and he had.wisely
put aside a little money every month so lie could
pay for a new ear, •
To his surprise, the dealer offered him a not-
so-bad trade-in on his old car, a little less than
,he had expereted but that ,old triclt of juggling
trade-in prices Works, only on the most' gullible •
nowadays,
But then came the joker. The dealer wouldn't
take my friend's money. The ',denier insisted that
'LORNE McDONALd ahiot Mhouo he ange the car over h long period 'of time
was willing and able to write out a
,„ • :•cheque ,.on the spot. That, cot course, was how
Abe. dealer' could advertise his fantastically flifr prices. he made
lit-uP on the • finance charges. . • '' • `"4-'-'. : • '
`''' So my triend came sadly home •and told rne: '1 guess there's
only so much pie and everybody has to,get .his slice somehow, But
Lae think, he added, ghat it would he a lot .betterif people were
straight-forWard anti didn't try to confuse the issue with all that
bold-tripe, I mean type." .
Today, with the shoe 'on the other foot, there, are still 'Some

pofore even taking the lid' off a
paint can, read thee directions on
the label carefully. Follow instruc-
tions explicitly for best results. Al-
ways stir the paint thoroughly and
pour it' from one can to another
several times to mix pigments per-
fectly. An occasional stir during
the painting session maintains its
even consistency.
