meeting of the District of East
Huron • Women's Institute was
held in tim Fordwich community
hall on, May 23rd with a large
attendance. Mrs.'. Andrew Simpson
of Listowel; the' district president,
presided over the sessions.

Send 50 Guides to
Centenary Camp
. Dominion Stores Limited will
send 50 Girl Guiges„ all-expenses
paid to the Girl Guide Centenary
Camp from Aug. 8th to 19th. This
Centenary Camp, situated on Doe
Lake, just north of Huntsville, On-
tario, will be -one of the most im-
portant events in Guide activity in
this generation. It will be attend-
ed by Guides from every corner of
the globe, including 500 from all
across Canada. Of the 500 from
Canada, 50 will be guests of Do-
minion Stores.
These 50 Guides will be chosen
on a regional basis in cooperation
with Girl Guides Assoeiation,
through an essay contest "What It
Means to Be a Girl Guide". Entry
forms for the contest are being
distribUtel by the- Uides' organiz-
ation.
The Centenary Camp, iS held as
part .of the celebrations for the
centenary of the birth of Lord
Baden-POwell, founder of the Scout
and Guide movement, Guide lead-
ers have bee'n'laying plans for the
camp for months. It is anticipated
that seine 1,500 girls will attend
with 500 from Canada, 500 from
the E,S. and another NO from var-
ious parts of the world,

bride-elect of next Month, held at
the home of Mrs. Bruce Arnent,
fourth line of Wallace,
Messrs. James Vittie, Mel Allan,
Fraser Lynn, William McCann,
Carl Ettinger and George Pitten-,
dreigh attended- a district meeting
of the Canadian Legion in Harris-
ton on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Haase and
family of Winthrop visited' Sunday
with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Mc-
Clement.
Mr. and Mrs. Keith Ridley and,
children of London visited over
the week-end with Mrs. Dora
Ridley.
Mr. William Brown and Mr. Jack
Brown visited one day last week
with Mrs, Agnes Jamieso'n in
• Fergus Hospital.
The sympathy of the community
is extended to Mrs. Williath Wade
and Miss Beatrice Wade in the
sudden passing of a son, and bro-
ther, Mr, Clarence Wade in Bel-
grave on May 26th.
Mr. Jack Holt is at present con-
fined to St. Joseph's Hospital,
London, where later this week he
will undergo surgery. A speedy re-
covery to health is wished for 'him.
Mr. Mac Corbett of London spent
the week-end at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Ed. Matthews.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Wray of
Wingham .visited Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs, Elmer Harding.

Sunday with relatives in St. Cath-

one days last week in London.

visited with relatives in Kitchener

Mr. and Mrs. Fleming Johnston of
Bluevale, and celebrated several
birthdays.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Fraser and
son Randy of Walton visited on
Sunday at the home of her sister,
Mrs., John Jamieson.
Mrs, Chas. Johnston, of Belgrave,
who has been a patient in Wingham
Hospital 'following an operation, is
recuperating at the home of her
son, Clark Johnston.
Mrs. Jas, Jamieson has been a
patient in Wingham Hospital dur-
ing the past few weeks and is im-
proving. "•
Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Snell and
baby son, of Westfield visited with
her mother, Mrs. E. Dow on Thurs-
day.

Mrs. Ruby Forester of Toronto
spent 'the week-end at her home

Mr. and Mrs, Eldon Graham and
family of Toronto are spending
some time at their home here.

Wood attended the graduation of
their daughter and sister, Miss
Reita Harding from the School of
Nursing at ViCtoria Hospital, Lon-
don, A reception was held for the
family afterwards at the home of
a cousin, Mrs. Robert McAlistair of
London. Congratulations to Reita
from the community on completing
her three years of training,
Dr. J. D. Porde assisted by three
health nurses administered polio
vaccine to school and pre-school
children at the Fordwich Public
School/last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Alex Keith spent a
day last week in Kitchener.
Mrs. George Baker is spending
two weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Bus
Giles in Arkona,
Mrs. Orville Guy of Mitchell
spent two days last week with Mr.
and Mrs. Henry Howe.
