Huron County's 16th annual
music, festival, which ends on Fri-
day, has this year attracted more
than ,500, contestants from county
schools. ' On Friday night prizes
will he presented and oh the even-
ing following. ,a concert, featuring
the prizeWrinners, will be staged.
The festival got under way on
Thursday of last week with activi-
ties given over to piano classes.
Adjudicator for the seven-day
music festival is John. Cook, organ-
ist at London's, St. Paul's Cathed-
ral,
The, Wingham ▪ Kinette Cup and
the Huron County Scholarship, top
awards at Monday's.. session, went
to Sandra Walper, of Exeter, with
a total of 86 points in the 'piano
solo Class for 15 years and under.
Monday's Winnea s included,' Gloria
Reed, Windham; Gail Henderson,
Windham; Mary Lou Wright, Blue-
vale; Floyd 'Smith, Payth; and
Gwen Walsh, Belgrave, Mary
Fisher, Windham; Janice Hender—
son, Wingham; Helen Carbert,
Winghtirn and Janet Bcecroft, of
Belgrave, were among the local
winners on Friday.
Monday's prize-list contained the
names o6seVeral other local win-
ners including girl's vocal soloists,
Marie Johnston, Wingham; Ruth
Alin Henderson, Wingham; Sarah
Skinn, Wingham; Mary Fisher,

White Easter lilies and' Spring
flowers banked-the altar and mark-
ed the •pews, to set the scene for
the Wedding party at the candle-
light service in St. Helen's Angli-
can Church in Vancouver, B.C.; on
Thursday, April 18th at 8.15 p.m.,
when Ruth Isabelle Burgman, be-
came the bride . of Robert Cyril
Samoa Pestell, Reverend J. Whin-
field Robinson performed the ser-
vice for the daughter of Mr. and,
Mrs. W. F. Burgman, Wingham,
and the son of Mr. and Mrs. G. H.
Pestell of London, England,
Given in marriage by her father,
the bride wore an imported gown
of white French satin. The full
skirt fell from a scalloped, elon-
gated waistline into a brief train.
The dress featured a portrait neck-
line, long buttoned sleeves and was
distinctive in its simplicity. The
White satin Juliette cap, trirtfmed
with pearls, caught the 'chapel
veiling of double' illusion, The
bride carried an all-white bouquet
of gardenia and stephanotis.
Mrs. John Leighton, was matron
of honor, Mrs, Neil .McDonald was
bride's matron and Miss Claire
Clark, bridesmaid. They wore
identical waltz-length romance,
blue chiffon over taffeta 'frockS.
The 'draped 'floating ' panels
' in the back complimented .the
bouffant skirts. They carried pale
yellow „daisies, centred with deep
blue iris, and wore head bands of
the same daisies.
Mr. James Atkins was beat Man,
Mi-, Itenteth N. Next arid Mr, J. E.
Nevis Gilmer usered, All three
arc of Vailenaver.
Mr. Pierce sang "The Lord's
Prayer" and "The Wedding Pray-
er" during the service.
