The report of the resolution committee was presented by its chairman, Mrs, C. E, Zurbrigg, Exeter.. Missionary's Address The highlight el the afternoon session was • an address by Miss E. Palethorpe, returned missionary from Korea. In clear, concise lang- uage, Miss Palethorpe painted a vivid word picture of Korea, which greatly increased her listeners' in- terest and sympathetic understand- ing •of this country, The division of the country at the 38th parallel leaves the com- munists in control of the wealthier north, where all the hydro power is concentrated. The poorer agri- cultural south lacks resources and fuel of any type with which to develop electric power. No power— no industries, no jobs, no pay. The people exist in unbelievable pov- erty, living under bridges, in caves or cardboard and tin huts. Eighty per cent ofthe government's bud- get is spent on defence, leaving government officials grossly under- paid, which in turn causes cor- ruption and sliding moral stand- ards, ard, Under such uch c nd dons the Christian Church, hindered by the lack of senior, experienced mis- sionaries, strives to -serve. In the field of education and medicine much, has been done. "Christian Citizenship and You" proved to be a panel discussion chaired by Mrs. H. Pollock, which challenged everyone to practise Christianity in all phases of citi- zenship. The memorial service was conducted by Mks. C. Tavener, Grand Bend, The president spoke of the fine spirit of co-operation evident throughout the Presbytery and urged each one to pray con- stantly for strength to advance in the work, Officers for 1957-58 The following officers were in- stalled by Mrs, E.
