John C, Linklater, a resident of Gawtnoque for the past 69 years, Mr, Linklater was horn in East Wawanosh Township:- He • chose teaching :as his profession and taught in Clinton, later going to. Gananoque Model, School as prin eerie! in. 1888. During his 4/ years as school principal in, that place he Was highly respected and when the three public schools • amalga- mated 'Iia 1927, the new building was named Linklater School, in his honor:. Mr, Linklater; who retired in. 1929, was bedridden fora number of years at the home of his daugh- ter, Mrs Thomas ; Shirrcll.
