FORDWICH—The dente' which,

community hall in Fordwiob on
Friday night was a huge success,
The young lads.' bad sold tickets
on an electrie fry pan, which was
won by Lorne Johnston of At-
wood, and an electric clock, won
by Keith Montgomery, of Wing-
ham.
The prize for•the best Irish Cos-
tume was. wen by Mrs, Charles
Schaefer of • Gowanstown; spot
dance winners were Mr. and Mrs,
Carroll 'Johnston, Mrs, George a 3o-
lander and Mrs. Glenn. Martin of
Fordwich; door prize, Miss Elva
Foster of Ndwbridge Prize money
was all donated back to the hockey

Dies at Gananoque
In His 101st Year
WOrd was received 'here last
week of . the passing of. John C,
Linklater, a resident of Gawtnoque
for the past 69 years,
Mr, Linklater was horn in East
Wawanosh Township:- He • chose
teaching :as his profession and
taught in Clinton, later going to.
Gananoque Model, School as prin
eerie! in. 1888. During his 4/ years
as school principal in, that place
he Was highly respected and when
the three public schools • amalga-
mated 'Iia 1927, the new building
was named Linklater School, in his
honor:.
Mr, Linklater; who retired in.
1929, was bedridden fora number
of years at the home of his daugh-
ter, Mrs Thomas ; Shirrcll. He re-
mained interested in civie and
national matters and on March 6
of this year,, two days before his
death, celebrated, his lOilth, birth-
day. He was the town's oldest resi-
dent and is mourned by a host of
former students and other friends.,

The W.M.S. meeting was presided
over by Mrs. Sam Thompson. A •
hymn was sung in opening and
Mrs. Stuart Chamney read: the ,
Scripture _lesson' from the 4th •
chapter of Ephesians, Verses 1-20.
Prayer was offered 'by the, leader.
Mrs., R. Chamney read a paper on
Christian Stewardship and Mrs.
H. Jefferson read an . article on
Japan. Following the singing of
another hymn the minutes of the
previous meeting .were. read and
cards of thanks were read. The
chapter in the study bookwas
read,. by Mrs. Edward Robinson.. A
hymn was sung in closing and a
bazaar was, held, proceeds to be
used' for supply work.
Miss Hazel Stamper was in
charge of the WA. meeting which
followed and opened with a hymn,
Psalm 738 was read in unison. Min-
