counties, is being boa at th?, Wes
tern Fair, Grounds, Landon, from
Februtiry 25th to Mareli 1St.
Last year the Fair had a. 'record
1242 entries, including grain, seeds,
bacon, eggs, and other farrh Pro-
ducts; .also baking and fruit class-
en. Commercial.: and educational
displays were particularly exten-
* sive, and the auction sale on the
final day is always of special in-
terest. ,
Special apealters• and entertaln-
ment programmes are being ar-
ranged featuring the theme, "Ag-
riculture Builds for Temorrow"..

ehildren. The topic for discussion
this week was "Does She Put the
Price Tag On?!'
This group thought that the Im-
proved methods of packaging vege-
tables fruit, etc encouraged and
increased the consumption of food
products and that these factors are
in the folloWing order: grade, price,
brand and 'built-hi services, such
as pre-cooking. They also felt that
premiums and coupon,s should be
cuttout of packages• and the price
reduced instead,
Progressive euchre' was played,
with high prizes going to Mrs. 4-1,
Wilkinson and Robert, Yuill and
consolation prizes to Mrs. Stan-
ley. Cook and Richard Praetor,
Lunch was served.
The •next meeting will be held
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clar-
ence ,Yuill.

the county executive tfineeting , and
Mentioned that the county "at
home" is to be hold in _Exeter and
the annual meeting at the high
school in Clinton on March 7.
The semi-finals, for the drama
festival will be held in Seaforth
on Tuesday, ;February. 12 'and in'
Gorrie Community Hall on Febru-
ary, 14. The finals will be held 'In
Clinton on Thursday, February 21,
Delegate's *ere chosen' to attend
the Junior Farmers' ',Conference in
Guelph on March 15-17. ISabelle
Smith will represent the Institute
and Boyd Taylor and JIM, Bow-
man, the Junior Farmers. ,
During a' discussion on the rat
campaign it was reported that Of
the 820 lbs of warafin 'sold in the
county, 116 lbs was sold in this
area.

County since 1951, has reSighad hie^

tural agent in Ontara ,with• the
Canadian ,National Railways with
headquarters in 'Toronto:, • '
Mr. Montgomery Was horn in
Carleton County, 20 •milds Item
Ottawm He was raiSed'an a' dairy
farm and graduated from Rempt-
'Wile Agricultural School' in. 1943.
He attended :the 'Ontario ;Agricul-
tural College from 'which' he was
graduated in 1946.
On June lat of that year
Montgomery becarne assistant ag-
ricultural representative in Lamb-
ton County. From May 1st, 1948
to May 31st, 1949, he was assistant
agricultural representative fop the
County of Hastings, at which time
he was appointed agricultural rep-
resentative in the Nipissing Dist-
ri ct with headquarters at North
Bay, coming to Huron County in
the same capacity in 1951. '
Mr. Montgomery hasInade many
friends in thb county during his
more, than five yearg of service to
the People of this district. It is
with regret that they learn of his,
resignation, but hasten „to wish
