66 of lYlitchell svho died. in West-
minster Hospital, Landon, • last
week, hadben minister at Moles-
worth and Gorrie Presbyterian
churches before retiring six years
ago and going to 1VIitobeli to live.
He was at Molesworth for three
years.
Born at Beaufort, Wales, 'he'
came ,tv Canada in 1910 and at-
tended Queen's Universit*Y, Kings-
ton. After graduating from the
Presbyterian College, Montreal, .he
spent several years in the Peace
River district, and' then held var- I
ious charges in the Ottawa area.
Surviving, besides his wife, the
former Mary Malmsbury, of Camp
Borden, are son, John, in British
Columbia; a daughter, Mrs. And-
rew Grieg of: Ottawa and three
brothers in Wales.
Funeral service was .conducted
at Knox. Presbyterian Church, Mit-
chell, on Monday afternoon with
Rev, George Lamont officiating.
The remains were taken to Otta-
wa, where another service was
held on Tuesday and interment
was made in Pineerest Cemetery.

For Silver Wedding.'
GORRIE--Neighbors on the 6th
and 9th concessions of Howick ar-
ranged aSurprise party at the
home of Mr. and Mrst Chas. Black
to .celebrate their 25th wedding 'an-
niversary. The party was held, on
Friday evening, November 30, the
actual date of the wedding being
Decemiier "5th.
Progressive euchre was played.
The couple was presented with
wall mirror, Mrs, Earl King read-
ing an address and Stewart Strong
malting the presentation. Refresh

Church hall on Sunday evening.
Gwen Gibson and Bill. Higgins
were in charge of the program and
the topic was "Can We Afford
Christmas?" Can we afford to let
the birthday of our Lord become
a kind of religious First of July?
How can we make Christmas more
truly self-centred?

mas story from St. Luke. Bill'
Higgins gave a reading, "A? Swed-
ish Christmas", Bernice Graing-
er gave a reading on "Christmas
in India". Paul Higgins read "The
Festival of Christmas".
The carols "While Shepherds

and "Silent Night" Were sung. Ian
Howes, the president, took charge
of the business and Dorothy Toner
read the minutes. Shirley Reidt
gave the financial report and it',
was agreed to give $30 to the mis-
sionary and maintenance fund,

Passes at Everitt
,GORRIE-:William Frank *M-
ath of Everitt, Ont., passed away
at the. Alliston Hospital' on Satur-
day evening, He was a native of
England and came to Howick`.
Township some nine years ago.
He lived for a few .year's in the
home now occupied by •William
Smith, three miles north of Gorrie.
He was a veteran of the first
World War.
Surviving are .his wife, :one
daughter Cherie (Mrs. Jasper Far-
rish) of Everitt and one son, Frank
of Sudbury. ,
The body is resting at the Ed-
gar funeral home. Funeral ar-
rangements are not . complete at
time of writing.

last chapter of the;study book "Be-
low the Arctic Tundra", Early
Anglican missionaries were nearly
all from England: World War II
brought about a great change in
the North with,the building of the
Alaska Highway. The importance
of the missionary in the' North
was stressed, but also the tragedy
of church dis-union. She closed
by saying "There is something
specific for each one to do, pray;
think, work. ' Who dare•stand
idle?" •

Listowel, John Strong was named
a vice 'president and Wellesley

4-H Club Leaders' Award for five
Years' voluntary service, ce, donated
by the Canadian Council of 4-H
Clubs at Exeter on Friday even-
ing, When. Huron County Junior
Farmers held their achievement

Mervyn Abram, a member of the
