fiORRIE COUPLE MARK
50TH ANNIVERSARY
Fifty years of married life were
celebrated on Wednesday, Octo-
ber 24th by Mr, and Mrs. Andrew
Douglas, R.R. 1, Gorrie, at an an-
niversary party held at their home.
Mr. and Mrs. Douglas were mar-
ried at the Presbyterian manse,
Brussels, and first lived on a farm
just north of Morrisbank corner.
After a full life on the farm they
moved to Gorrie, where they have
lived retired for several years. Both
are 78 years of age.
The couple have six children,
three sons and three daughters,
all of Whom were present at the
anniversary party.
The daughters are Mrs. Helen
Ridley, Wroxeter; Mrs. Jessie
Clark, Wingham and Agnes, of
Gorrie. The sons are Robert, of
Wingham;: Andrew, Palmerston
and Stanley of Gorrie. There are
15 grandchildren and great-grand-
children.

Wed at Kitchener
GORRIE—White baby mums and
ferns decorated St. Paul's Luther-
an Church, Kitchener, for the wed-
ding of Nora Clara Jacklin and
Douglas Clayton Kaufman. The
bride is the daughter of Mr, and
Mrs. 1 Webster Jacklin, Wroxeter,
and the greom is .the son of Me.
and Mrs, Oscar Kaufman, Kitch-
ener, The Rev. A, Eissfieldt offici-
ated. The soloist was Mr, Harry
Boyle and Mr. Edgar Merkel was
at the organ. The bride was given
hi marriage by her uncle, Mr. Geo.
Brown, Gerrie.
The bride wore a • street-length
gown of white brocaded satin with
matching headdress and shoulder-
length veil. She carried a bouquet
of white carnations. Miss Maxine
Jacklin, sister of the bride, was
maid of honor and wore a street-
length gown of burnt copper silk
velvet with matching headdress
and carried 'a bouquet of variegat-
ed bronze daisy mums,
The best man was Mr. Kenneth
Kaufman, brother of the groom
and the ushers were Mr. Wilfred
Butler, Toronto, and ter. James
Kaufman, Kitchener.
The reception was held at "The
Pines" at 'Bridgeport. Receiving,
the guests the bride's mother wore
a Sardinia blue ticatina crepe dress
with rose accessories arid pink rose
corsage. The groom's mother
chose an antique gold taffeta dress
and brown accessories with con'-
sage of amber roses.
For travelling the bride donned
It charcoal nylon ensemble with
white accessories and corsage of
white gardenias.* The couple will
reside in Kitchener.

the mother of the bride received
in an ensemble of black and white

sage of pink roses, She was assisted
by the Mother of the groom, who
chose a black costume with tur-
quoise hat and accessories with a
corsage of red roses.

TURNBERRY SCHOOL,
HOWICK FAIR WINNER
WROXETER—Pupils and teach-
er of. S.S. 2, Turnberry Township,
the smallest school in Howick or
Turnberry, are proud and happy
these days. Last week they were
notified that their school placed
first at Howick Fall Fair School
Exhibit. The award was approxi-
mately $40.00.
Three pupils erom the school
stood higheSt in 'the matter of
points, They are Julia Thornton,
Ken Grant and Margaret Paulin,
The exhibits included arts and
crafts, vegetables and flowers, For
their project "Children of Other
Lands", they placed 5th Last year
they placed third on total points.
This proves that there is something
to be said for the little country
schbol. Hats off to the pupils of
S.S. NO. 2, Turnberry Township and
their teacher, /Vas. Wilson Thorn-
