NINA BRANCH
BLUEVALE—The Women's In-
stitute held an evening meeting
at the home 'of Mrs. Charles Hos-
man, on Sept. 13th, the president,
Miss Ruby Duff, presiding, The
secretary, Miss Margaret Curtis,
read the minutes and gave the
financial report. 'The roll call was
answered by giving current events
relating to Canada.
It was decided to accept the in-
vitation of the Wingham Women's
Institute to meet with them on
October 18th.
There 'was some discussion of
club 'work for girls-for the coming
season.
Mrs. M. L. Aitken spoke on his-
torical sites and 'monuments in
Ontario, giving the history of the
memorials.
The singing of Canadian songs
was led by Mrs. Carl Johnston.

Two additions: to the library
were noted:- a fine storage cup,
board, built by Rev, R, A. Brook,
and a Huron County Atlas of 1879
donated by Dr, E; Shaw, of
Toronto. The atlas is a valuable
book, giving the history of all the
townships and towns, of Huron
County, with many illustrations.
There is a good selection of
books permanently in the libiary
and 'also an exchange of 200 books
every three months from the
Huron County Library,

At the September meeting mem-
bers of the Gorrie L.O.B,A, made
plans for sewing garments and
making quilts for the orphanage
at Richmond Hill. It was, decided to
serve a turkey supper in the Gorrie
Community Hall on October 19th.
Mrs. Bradley Galbraith assisted
at a miscellaneous shower given by
Mrs. Bert Abell at 'her home in
Listowei, in honour of Miss Doreen
Bergey, whose marriage to Herbert
Jobb of Brampton takes place this
Month.
Dr, and Mrs. K. R. Ferguson of
Montreal spent a few days last
week with Mrs: H, Ferguson and
other friencla. They sail the latter
part in SepteMber in the Mimetic
for England, where Dr. Ferguson
intends to Cientinim his studies.

One of the recommendations of
the Mngston Workshop of the Mu-
seums Committee dealt with .the
file work carried on by Mr. J. H.
curator of the Huron County
Museum at Goderieh,
"It was unanimously agreed by
titre participants of the Kingston
Workshop of the Museums Com-
mittee of the Ontario Historical
Society that Mr,. J. Neill, cura-
tor of the Huron County 'museum
at Coderieh, has produced a unique
museum which preserves in three
dimensions the history of. Huron
County and, furthermore, it was
recommended that due honor and
recognition be paid him by'the On-
tario Historical Society at the next
annual meeting being held in Nia-
gararalls in June."
The recommendation having
been brought before the session of
council at the, annual meeting of
the Ontario Historical Society e
Niagara Palls June 14, it was mov-
ed by' Dr. Tallman, seconded by
Mr. Laidler and carried unnuirrions-
ly tint the recommendation lie ap-
proved by council, Mr. Neill, who
was present, replied briefly,

story about Korea and the offer

sermon on the theme, "Deeds of
Love and Mercy", enjoining the

The ladies decided to buy a
piano lamp for the Sunday Schoo'
room, A travelling apron is being
used by the village and boundary
groups as a method of financing.
The next quarterly meeting will
be held ,in December,

Farmers are having a tough
time, owing to wet days and
flattened grain, This year will be
long remembered for , its late
seeding, delayed haying and har-
vest. September usually a time
for fall ploughing, is taken up
with cutting and threshing grain.
There is much fall work waiting
to be done, '

parental home with Mrs, Arthur
