PreAyteria,n and. Knox United, had
capacity crowds on Sunday mor-
ning for the Morris Centennial ser-
vices. At the close of each service
the people gathered at the com-
munity centre where a luncticOn
was held, giving a lot of the old
girls and boys a chance to have a'
social chat together. It was he-
lieV,ed that about 1000 were in at-
tendance.
At the service in Knox United
Church Rev. C. A, Krug was in
charge and took his text from
Deuteronomy 29.29. The quartette,
consisting of Ross Anderson, Geo.
Johnston, Bill Coultes and George
Procter sang "The Old Rugged
Cross" and the choir sang the an-

'1310110P Cody, in a short address
said that the cemetery is not al-
ways kePt in the good order it
should he, and it was a, great pleas-
ure for him to see how well • St. Michael's was looked after, He
asked the people of the parish to
keep it the way it was, since It
was, very beautiful,
kfe spoke Of the •good work of the
Parish and said that two of the
church's most zealous priests—the
brothers Phelan had come from
Blyth, ""Many outstanding sisters
have also come from this parish
and we have to have more priests
and more sisters if our good work
of the past is to continue," .said I Mark Fortieth Bishop, Cody. He mentioned, too,
that they were celebrating a double
centennial since it was the cere,
tennial of the diocese as well as
the Township of Morris.
Father McDonald, former parish
priest at Blyth, speaking prior to
the Bishop's arrival, said he saw • a
great transformation to the ceme-
tery in the five years that had
passed while he had been away, He
said it was a great pleasure for
him to be back again, the happy
memories and associations lied,
never dimmed.
The Bishop was met at the
cemetery gates by members of the
cemetery board, a procession was
formed and the Bishop with at-
tending priests and members of the
board walked through the ceme-
tery to the statue of St. Michael,
Around the base of the statue
Several old headstones had been
placed, They were headstones
which had been preserved and •
which carried the names of those
people who had been buried in St.
Michael's from 1854 until early in
the 20th century. The earliest of
them carried the name of Sarah
Bradley, who had been buried in
1854.
A list of the dead, and of the
donors' to the new statue, was
placed, in a vault at the statue and
sealed. It will be opened after
another hundred years have passed.

panied Bishop Cody at the blessing
of the newly, erected statue of St.
Michael: Fr. William Phelan, Fr.
L. J, Phelan, Fr. McCormick of
