'Christianity is wonderful.— when 3t. works r Those words, or ones with siniilar importance are frequently. heard Unfortunately., they are all too tine, In, spite of all indications to the contrary, there are many Christians who do actively work out the prin- ciples of their faith, as the farmers of Ole area in Bruce County learned only last week. The section from Lucknow north through Kinloss and Cr.eenoch townships was badly hit by winds of tornado force and barn after barn went down. To their owners the sight must have been a pretty hopeless one, for insurance coverage is seldom sufficient to do much more than purchase the -necessary materials for rebuilding. La- bor costs on buildings of such size have become desperately high, and no doubt many of the stricken farmers faced the prospect of long years of debt. The one redeeming factor in a sit- tlation of this kind is neighborliness— and. farming people have retained that sterling quality to a degree that is of- ten rare in larger places. In Bruce County the . neighbors were already pitching in to the rebuilding job, when carloads of Mennonite farmers, from :Waterloo County began to arrive. The newcomers were men of few words. They explained,.: briefly that they had heard of the calamity and so came to help out. Not only are the Mennonites gen- erons with their assistance, but they One of the well-kpown TV pro- grafts carries a 'message to employers and the general public which points out they place of the handicapped worker in ;the world today. 'It is a thought that is so very easily dismissed by the normal, healthy individual, inclined as he is to nod in sympathy and then for- get...the whole affair, *ttpposedly there are government apProved agencies in this country to aid. the crippled citizen to find the typ -o".f employment suited to his par- tictar case. The general idea is that theperson: so 'employed feels that he has'a worthwhile place in the commun-. ity and, that his life need not be hope-. less as, well as useleSs. tfiere is, of course, another and equally important angle in the plain fact, that our country is so short of MORE WORK NEEDED FOR THE HANDICAPPED per authorities when there . a:fe. n f.0w days this week at Coiling- of handicapped workers. •wocid and Honey Harbor.
