The farmer Jean Welker Wheel-
ens, k,he was born in Tarnberry
Township, the daughter of the late
William .Wheelens and Margaret
Cummin gs, In 1898 she married
J. Thomas Brydges in Wingharn,
and they farmed hie lVIorris Town-
ship for 37 years before retiring to
Belgrave in MD. Mr. 1.3rydges
.010 April 28th, 1948, She was
member of the Trinity Anglican
Church in Belgrave.
Surviving aye two daughters,
Margaret (Mrs. Joseph 'E, Dunbar)
of Belgrave; Dprothy (Mrs. Louis
D. Hayes) of Elyria, Ohio) two
sons, James of Ridgetown and Jer-
rie, of Hamilton; and a sister, Mrs.
J, A. Currie, of Wingharn, AlSo
surviving are -19 grandchildren and
nine great-granclehilar'en. A son,
three sisters and two brothers pre-
deceased her,
Funeral service will be held
from the residence of Joseph E.
Dimbar on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
with Rev. Bren deVries officiating,
Interment will be in Brandon ce-

BELGRAVE—The Home Help-
ers' meeting of Knox Presbyterian
Chnrch W.M,S.. was held on Tues-
day of last week at the home of
Mrs. 0, G. Anderson,
The president, Mrs. J. C.. Mc-
Burney, presided for 'the 'husineSa,
meeting which was opened by re-
peating the Creed in unison: The
Psalm; "0 Blessed Ts the Man"
was sung.
The secretary's and treasurer's
reports were received and eports
from the executive meeting of the
Huron Presbyterial .and the Synodi-
cal were given by Mrs. 0. G. An7
derson and Mrs. J. C. IVIeBurricy.
The Home. Helpers'. secretary,
Mrs. A. Bruce, presided for the
remainder of the meeting which
was opened by singing "Speed Thy
Servants, Saviour, Speed Them".
Mrs. Ken Barbour read' Psalm' 112
and Mrs. Youngblut led in prayer.
Mrs. Williams, Brussels, 'was the
guest speaker and . gave a very in-
teresting. and inspiring address
based - on the three phases of all
Christian work, namely love,- sacri-,
fice and. devotiOn. We love Christ
because He first 'loved us and, was
sent from the Father to bring uS
the message of salvation. We can
sacrifice our own personal desire
to help in bringing the world to
Christ when we love Him and
know what "e sacrificed for our
sakes, And we can give continual
devotion to our duty without re-
gard. to personal praise in this
world when we have Christian love
in our lives.•

The hostess served .a delicious
lunch and Mrs. Bruce expressed

le welcomed the members of the
'Evening . Auxiliary' of.!:•The. .VVr 'oMan's
Missidnary Society Of Knox United
Church, to her 'home on Thursday
evening for their meeting.
The president, Mrs. Ross, Ander-
son was in charge and opened the
meeting with a hymn and the
Lord's prayer repeated in unison.
Regular reports were given by the
secretary-treasurer ancl the roll call
was answered by 18 .rminbers. Mrs.
Robert Grasby stated' there had
been eight home and 18 hospital
visits made since the last meeting.
Mrs. Cameron Walsh; Mrs. Rob-
ert Grasby and Mrs. George Michie
were named as a committee to pur-
chase the following articles for the
church kitchen: four dozen better
cups and saucers, one teapot, one
eeffee pot,, two traya,_twa_eream
and sugar, sets, two pickle dishes
and a bread knife. The purchase
will be made with money from the
sale of the' cook books.
It was decided to try and send
a delegate to the School for lead-
ers at St. Thomas, August 27 to 31.
Mrs. Gordon Boman is to order
books concerning W.M,S. work and
also the C.G.I.T. packet.
A letter was read from Miss
Helen Black, missionary nurse at
Bella Coola, thanking the Auxiliary'
for its donation of meney, to help
buy a stretcher for that hospital.

The group led by Mrs. Ted, Fear
was in charge of the worship per-

and a hymn. Scripture lessons
from John and Peter were read
by, Mrs. Floyd Campbell.
Mrs. George Michie read an
article of the work done by Miss
Agatha Coultes, missionary at
Nanaimo, B.C., Mrs. Edgar Wight-
mah ras.1 a letter telling of the
work of Dr. B. Palmer at Hazel-
ton,' B.C., and Mrs. Ted Fear read
a letter about the • Work of Dr.
Donald Watt in the Queen Char-
lotte Islands.

included a trip through the Nabis-

Ladies' Guild Met
Last Thursday
BELGRAVE—Mrs. Clare Van-
Camp welcomed the Members of
the Ladies' Guild of Trinity Angli-
can Church to her home for their
regular meeting on Thursday. The
president, Mrs. Lawrence Vannan
was . in charge and ' opened pie
meeting with a hymn,' General Con-
fession and the Lord's prayer re-
peated in unison. .
The Scripture lesson, taken from
John was read by Mrs, William
Brydges. The roll call was answer-
ed with a Bible verse containing
the word "love".
Rev. B, de Vries gave the ad-
dress and told of the W.A. mission-
ary Meetings held recently at St.
George's Church, Goderich and St.
John's Church, .Brussels, when
Bishop Pierce outlined his work
in the Athabaskan area.
An auctioneer's sale of articles
was held with Mrs. Hugh Rinn act-
ing as auctioneer. Lunch was serv-
ed by the hostess assisted by Mrs.
William VanCamp and Mrs. Cooper
Nethery.

SPEAKS AT SERVICE
BELGRAVE—Once again a suc-
cessful Sunday School-Anniversary
and • Flower Service was held in
Knox United Church on Sunday
morning.
Organ music, played by Roy
Mundy, prepared the large congre-
gation for the theme of the ser-
vice, "Come unto Me".'
As the people entered they found
a very homey setting with the win-
dow sills filled with flowers to rep-
-resent flower boxes. Across the
front of the church were large
baskets of summer flowers and in
front of the altar a windmill of
flowers and evergreen. Above the
altar was an arch of evergreen
with the words across the top
"Come unto Me".
Members of the choir were the
older children of the Sunday
School. The junior members and
their teachers marched in a body
to the front of the church and
each (Mild presented a flower to
Miss Ruth Procter and Miss El-
eanor. Walsh, who placed them on
the altar rail which was decorated
With "evergreen, The juniors then
returned to occupy the front seats.
Ross AnderSon, superintendent
of the Sunday School, was in
charge Of the service. Earl Ander-
son led in prayer. The guest speak-
er was Lloyd Hutton, Of Kincar-
dine Who read the Seripture froin
St. Mark 10:19-13 and St. Matthew
1;28-30. Mr. Hutton chose as his
theme "Suffer the little Children
to come unto me". He demon-
strated the use of a Magnet ,aild
