Allen T. Lambert has been ap-
pointed general manager of The
Toronto-Dominion Bank .
, Mr. Lambert , succeeds William
Kerr; who, on the advice of his
medical advisers, has asked to be
relieved of his responsibilities as
general' manager. Mr. Kerr will
continue as vice-president and
director,

youngest general manager of anY.
Canadian bank hut his is one of
the_ youngest general managers in
the history of The Toronto-
Dominion Bank and its predeces-
sor 'institutions. Since December,
1953, he has been an assistant
general manager.
Like most banking executives
in Canada, Mr. Lambert has come
up the ladder from the position
of a junior, clerk. Though only
44 years of age he brings to his
new position 29,- years of banking
service, Waving entered the bank
at Victoria at the age of - 15.
However, his rise to a . position of
responsibility was rapid.
Mr. Lambert was born in Re-
gina but his family moved to
Victoria when he was only five
months old and he received his
schooling in thal city, He entered
the bank there, and later served in .
Vancouver branches. In 1940 he
was* moved East as accountant at
Brockville.
—In 1943-he was continissioned in
the Royal Canadian Navy as 'a
lieutenant and served until 1945.
On his discharge from the navy
he joined the staff of the St.
James & McGill branch in Monl-
real.
" In 1946 ,he was appointed man-
ager at Yellowknife, N.W.T. From
December, 1947 he was successively
Inspector in the Western Depart-
ment, Winnipeg; Supervisor, Head
Office; Assistant -.Manager, St.
James and' McGill Branch, Mont-
real; Superintendent, Head Office;
and Assistant General Manager,
Mr. Lambert has been active in
community affairs:- In Vancouver
he was president of the Junior
Board of Trade, At Yellowknife
he was,,president of the Yellow-
knife Chamber of Commerce. Since
coming 'to Toronto he, has been a
member o'f. the Toronto: Board of
Trade end has, served 'onthe Exe-
cutive Corarniee.'of .,nninber of
charitable Orianiiations.' Last year
he was vice-chairman of the
special names division of the To:
ronto Community Chest.
Mrs. Brant Bylsma
Dies in 39th Year
Mrs. Brant Bylsma, of Belgrave,
died in Wingham General Hospi-
tal, on Wednesday, May 30th, after
an , illness of four Weeks, She was
in her 39th year.
. The former Antje ten Kate, she
Was born in Sexbierm, Holland,
coming to this country in 1948.
She was ri member of the Christian
Reformed Church.
Surviving are her husband and
eight children, John, 13; Bob, 12;
Maaike, 10; Betty, 9; Ruth Mary, 7;
Timothy Stanley 5; Dotights Clar-
ence, 3 and Jenny Ann, 1,
Funeral service was held on Sat-
urday from the Christian Reformed
Church in. Clinton, with the S, J.
Walker funeral home in charge.
Rev. J. G. Hoytema conducted the
service and interment Was in Clin-
ton Cemetery.

meetings for the summer. President

sided.

prayer by Mrs. Harcourt. The.
secretary read the minutes of the
previous meeting and the roll
call was answered with a verse
of Scripture.
The treasurer read the report of
the previous monthly business,_
followed by a bubiness period. , It
was decided to forward $20.00 to
Missionary Laura Collar's account.
The sewing committee discussed
the sewing of clothing for yoUtig
girls in Laura Collar's class in
Africa,
The Scripture was read and the
Devotional was given by Mrs,
Falconer, taken from Psalm 40.
Mrs, Rintoul gave a reading on
"Christian Railroaders".
A season of prayer Was offered
up by several ladies after which
hymn 940 was sung,
