prior to the outbreak of the Second
World War held appointments at
Various RCAF stations and at Air
Force Headquarters in Ottawa,
In June 1941, he was sent to
Washington, D.C. to serve as Air
Member of the . Canadian Joint
Staff. He returned to Canada in
1942 to become commanding officer
of RCAF Station, Rockcliffe, near
Ottawa.
He was transferred overseas in
1943 and served as a station corn-
;wander in the RCAF's Number 6
Bomber. Group and later as a staff
officer, at the group's headquarters.
On his return to Canada he again
served at AFHQ as Deputy Air
Member for Technical Services and
in 1949 attended the Imperial De-
fence College in the U.K. before
returning to AFHQ as Deputy. Air
Member for Air Plans.'

appointed a ppm-pander of the
'Most Excellent Order of the British,
Empire for his distinguished ser=
vice both overseas and In Canada.

of this• vital arm of our country's
defences.
Every effort is being made to
place the station at Clinton in a
position to show the public exactly
what is done on the station from
day to day and to illustrate its var-
ious functions by means of dis-
plays, movies and personal contact
with the many visitors expected.
RCAF Station Clinton'is one of
the key stations in the RCAF'S de-
tente scheme for, although its role
is a training one, it is from here
that Men and women are provided
to man Canada's radar defences, to
maintain the bomplex of com-
munications and radar equipment
required in the aircraft and on the
ground, and to operate the maze
of communications networks re-
quired to keep a modern Air Force
"in husines".
' Zooming jets, as -Well as the
many conventional types of pro-
peller driven aircraft will also be
shown off to the public. A flying
display Which Will include such
famous aircraft as the V-86 Sabre,
the CF-100 Canuck and the P2V7
Neptune Will take place during the,
day. Formation flying and 'aero-
batics by representatives of most
types 'of aircraft now in Use in the
RCAlP will be a prominent' feature
Of the display.
A parade and 'drill display will
open the public portion of the day,
The station will be open to the
public from 1:30 p.m, to 6 p.m. and
the parade will begin at 2 p.m.
