WROXETER—The W o-m a n 's
Missionary Society of the United
Church held - the Easter Thank-
offering service on Sunday morn-
ing with Rev,' Robert McCullough
of Drayton as guest speaker.
Speaking from the text, "The
light shineth in the darkness," Mr.
McCullough told of his experiences
as a missionary in , Barbados, a
small island twelve by twenty
miles, teeming with people. Except
for two months in the year the
weather is very hot. He told some-
thing of the background of the
people, who were formerly slaves
and because of that the difficulty
to gain their trust, In that island
Mr. McCullough was the minister
of a large thureh cwith a good choir
and many Christian leaders', the re=
suit .of bringing the light into, the
dark PlaCts of the world, "One had
to experience life • in the mission
field to know the need of prayer
and other help to carry the good
news," the speaker said.
The choir, under the direction of
Mrs, Rharne, sang en anthem, "The
Vision of My Dreams," Lovely
spring flowers added to this spec-
ial service,
Rev. W. J. V. Buchanan was in
Drayton taking Mr. McCullough's
Work for the day.

bers and one visitor answered the
roll call when the Tuesday Star-
light Group, Wroxeter , United
Church. held its April meeting at
the hOnie of Mrs. Lloyd Townsend,
On Thursday, Vice-president Mrs.
Glenn McMichael, presided and
opened the meeting with a season-
able poem entitled, "April", by
Edgar A. Guest. Mrs. W. J. V.
Buchanan read the Scripture lesSon
and the roll call was answered by
handing in an article for the
bazaar, '
Guest speaker was Mrs, George
Gibson, who gave an interesting
talk on "Golden Opportunities".
She told of some of the experiences
of Dr. and Mrs. Bruce Painter
since moving to Hazelton, B.C.
Leaving in November the journey
to Hazelton was somewhat hazard-

in quartet numbers. Bill Newton,
nephew of the bride and groom of

of congratulatiOn and good wishes
for all present.
Aiming the many gifts was a
chest of silver and a pilyer tea
service. Mr. and Mrs. Newton ex-
pressed their deep appreciation
for the lovely gifts and refresh-
ments were served from a lace
covered table; centred with a three-
tier wedding cake flanked with
white candles in silver holders.
Guests were present from Tor-
onto, London, Drayton, Orange-
ville, Listowel, Harriston, Gorrie,
Clifford, Ayton and Drew, Every-

relatives and friends in wishing

HOLDS SPRING TEA

ers, snapdragons and daffodils
flanked with pale green candies
centred the tea table when mem-
bers of the Tuesday Star-
light Group of the United Church
held their annual spring tea and
bazaar, The church school room
was most attractive with flowers
and streamers arranged by Mrs.
John MacLean and her comirtitt,ie.
Visitors were received by Rev.
W. J. V. and Mrs, Buchanan, Mrs,
Crawford Gibson introduced the
members taking part in the apron
parade which included a mother
and daughter set worn by Mrs.
Lloyd Townsend and her daughter,
Brenda. Background music was
provided by Ann Douglas.
The' home . baking table with
angel food cakes, tarts and home
made buns,.found ready sale. Fancy
work and novelties and parcel post
attracted the visitors and as al-
ways, aprons in many designs and
materials were quickly disposed of.

uniforms, had a sale of recipe
books of their own making and
homemade candy.
