James farmed here until his
death in 1910 and ,the feria was
then taken over by his-son,,Benja-

Edward moved 'to Buffalo, N.Y.,
and Mary' married Stephen Play-
ford and moved to Western Cana-
da,
Benjamin married Gertrude Fos-
ter in 1883 and they had four child-
ren, Minnie '(Mrs. Ben Higgins),
Cleyeland, Walter and Frank.

SANDERSON HOME
WROXETER—Mr, and Mrs, Jim
Sanderson, who livea one mile
south- of Wroxeter, had a close call
on Friday afternoon when 'fire
broke out in their attic.
Mr. and, Mrs, Sanderson had been
cleaning pipes in the front part of
their home and then proceeded to
clean the kitchen stove pipes.
Coming from schcol, their sons told
of seeing smoke. Upon investigation
they found fire in the attic.
Help was asked from the village
and the Wingham,fife brigade was
called. Through their efforts dam-
age 'was confined to the attic.
It is thought a defective chimney
was the cause.

The swans which were reported
on the Maitland River here last
week are still around. They have
moved up the river, but the num-
ber has increased to, twelve, Vil-

Drama Club Gives
A poem, "Love and. Life" was
read by Mrs. George Gibson. Eigh-
teen members answered the roll
call with a verse from the Book of
Psalms. "More Love to Thee" was
the closing hymn followed by a
prayer in verse.
• President Mr's. William Hart con-
ducted the business. Arrangements
were made to cater for the Howick
`Lions Ladies' Night in Wroxeter
Community Hall'on April 23. A new
catering 'ebinritittee was appointed,
Mfrs. Lloyd Magee, Mrs. George
Gibson and Mrs. •StAnley Gallaher.
The remainder of the afternoon
was spent in quilting after which
a' pot luck supper was served by
the committee.

Principal Accepts
Markdale Position

WROXETER — Mr. Campbell
Brown, who has been principal of
Wroxeter • Public School for the
past two years, has' accepted a
position at Markdale where he will
be principal of a four-room school,
including kindergarten.
Mrs. Brown also taught south of
the village.
Everyone here will regret losing
Mr. and Mrs. Brown from the com-
munity, where they have been ac-
tive in church circles, community
activities and , sports, hut, extend
good wishes for their ftiture suc-
cess and 'happiness.

Miss Annie Kerr
Passes in Toronto
Miss Annie Kerr former Wing-
barn resident passed away sudden-
ly.. at hdr Mae in Toronto on
Monday, April 16.
Miss Kerr was a daughter of the
late Mr, and Mrs. Henry Kerr of
Winghani, and while living here,
she attended St. Paul's Anglican
Church. Iii 1012, she moved to Tor-
onto where she has since been a
member of St. "Olave's Anglican
Church, Miss Kerr Was a life mem-
ber of the Woman's Auxiliary and
has taken an active part in all
charitable work of the eltirtdh.
Surviving are two sisters, Ida
(1VIre. A. Alderson) Hamilton, and
LeOnti. of 'Toronto.
Funeral service was held at the
