Passes in Hospital
Wilson Ringrose, a resident of
this district for thr; past thirty-five
year:;, died id the Wingham Gen-
eral limpital, on Friday, March
36th, after. a long illness, vas
73,
Born in Amaranth Township,
Dufferin t-ounty, he was a son of
the late Mark Ringrose and Mary
Ann Manley, He was educated at
Amaranth School, later becoming
a section foreman on the Canadian
P acifie Railways, He. moved to,.
rceswater thirty-five years ago,
and has been living retired for the
past ten years. Mr, Ringrose was
a member of St. Andrew's Presby-
terian Church in Wingham.
Eighteen years ago he married
the former Nellie Walters, of
Wingham, who survives. Also sur-
viving are two nephews, 1t. 10, Bry-
an, of Orangeville, and ,T, L. Bryan,
of Erin.
Funeral service was held on
Monday, April 2nd., from the R. A.
Currie & Sons funeral bottle. Rev.
Alexander Nimmo officiated and
interment was in Wingham Ceme-
tery.
Pallbearers were R, H. Bur-
bridge, Fred Hambly, Robin Camp-
bell, John Walters, Ross McRae
and Wilfred Henry.

gar funeral home in Gerrie on
Tueeday, March 27 with interment
in the Wroxeter cemetery.

Earl Johns Passes • Suddenly in 'Toronto
People of this community were
shocked to hear of the sudden pass-
ing on Saturday, of T. Earl .Tohns,
a former resident of Wingham, at
his home at 60 Brule Gardens, in
Toronto.
A member of the Board of Edu-
cation staff in Toronto for 30 years,
he received his early education in
Wingham public and high schools
and at Toronto Teachers' College.
He taught school at Cayuga and tit
Grace Street Public School for'
about ten years, before joining the
Toronto Board of Education, where
he became executive secretary to
the director of education for Ont-
ario, Dr. C. C. Goldring.
A good athlete he worked on
all school sport projects and took,
a prominent .part in organizing and
directing the .swimming program
oP summer schools.
Mr. Johns was a member of the
Empire Club of Toronto, and a past
master of St. Andrew's. Masonic
Lodge..He was a .member. and elden.

McIntosh) of Toronto, and Gwen

Mrs. Geo. King Was
Culross Resident
There passed away in Wingham
General Hospital, on March 29th,
1956, Mary Moir, widow of the late
George King.
She was born August 29th, 1879,
in Culross Township. a daughter
of pioneer settlers", Joseph Moir and
Annie McMillen.
Mrs, King lived most of her life
On the 2nd. Concession of Culross
West, Six' years ago she came to
Teoswater, where she lived until
her death a few days ago.
Mrs. ICing was noted for the ster-
ling 'characteristics of honesty and
Sincerity, She hovel friends and
neighbors and was deeply attached
to the fine old things of life.
She is survived by. four sons
and two daughters, Edwin" and
Alex), of London; George, of Tees-
water, and Joe on the old home-
stead; Dorothy (Mrs, L. Downs) of
Brighton; :Jessie (Mrs. Albert
Bates) of Guelph, and two brothers,
Milan, of Wingharn, and ,John, of
Turnberry. There are twenty
grqndchildren.

Famous Painter
Mrs, Susan Elizabeth Halpenny
of 84 Duchess Street, London, died
on Thursday at Mason Villa Pri-
vate Hospital.
The former Susan Elizabeth Reid,
she was born in this district and
lived in Wingham before moving
away many years ago, She 'was a
sister of George Agnew Reid,
famous Canadian painter who was
born near Wingham,
Her husband, • John Halpenny,
died in 1,926. Mrs. Halpenny has
been a resident of London for the
past fourteen years,
Surviving .Is a. sister-in-law,
Mrs. Geo, A, Reid, and a brother-
