BLVEVALE---The second meet-
ing of the North Huron District
Y.P.U, took place in Bluevale
United Church last Tuesday. Repre-
sentatives were present from, or-
ganizations from Belgrave, Brus-
sels, Wingham and Bluevale.
Wingham members opened the
meeting' with recreation, led by
Doreen Burden and Merle GoWdy.
Devotional exercises were in
charge of members of Brussels
Y.P.U. The Scripture reading and
prayer were given by Joyce Miller.
.A vocal duet was given by Marren
Helningway and Joyce Millar, with
Agnes Lane accompanist.

R. C. McGowan- Was
Blyth Resident
R. C. McGowan, a highly re-
spected and lifelong resident of the
Myth community, died suddenly
in Clinton last Tuesday, He was In
• his 94th year,
Born on the third line of East
Wawnosh Township, he bad farm-
ed there his entire life, He was
the last surviving member of the
family of the late Walter Mc-
Gowan and Rebecca Ginning. ,
in 1894 he married. Maggie Jane
Murdoch. in Ashrield Township,
Mrs. McGowan predeceased him in
April, 1950, Mr, McGowan was a,
member of the choir and later
choir leader, and served at Various
times on the church boards, being
honorary elder of Blyth United
Church at the time of his death.
He was respeCted and esteemed by
all who knew him,
Surviving are three daughters:
Mary (Mrs. C, Coultes) Bel-
grave; Dixon (Mrs. Fred Reid)
Clinton; Ruth (Mrs. H, Buffett)
Carsonville, Mich.; eleven grand-
children and sixteen great grand-
children. A daughter Edna (Mrs.
Geo. Charter) paSsed away in
October 1.955.
