BIXEVALE — A shower and
dance were held last Wednesday
evening for Mr. and Mrs. George
Darling who were recently married.
Tiffin's orchestra supplied the
music,
Miss Joyce Hoffman read an
address to the young couple and
Miss Etoile Moffatt presented
them with a purse, to which
George suitably replied. Dancing
was enjoyed and a social time was
spent,
Miss Doris Newman, of Harriston
and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Lints, of
Mildnuty were guests at this event.

Mrs, Peacock Passes
BLUEVALE-The death occurred
on Saturday, February 4th of Mrs,
James Peacock, at the home of her
son William, on the 1st line of
Morris,
Mrs, Peacock, the former Sarah
Johnston, was the daughter of the
late William James Johnston and
Sarah Davidson, pioneers of Morris
Township and" she lived all her
life in Morris except for a few
years in Bluevale, After her hus-
band's death she returned to her
former home with her son and his
family.
Mrs. Peacock was highly esteem-
ed by all who knew her, She had
been in failing health for the past
year, Two brothers, Richard and
Edward, passed away a year 'ago.

I3ELGRAVE—The regular meet-
ing of the Woman's Missionary
Society and the Woman's Associa-
tion of Knox United Church here.
Was held in the church on Wed-
nesday afternoon, February 1.
The president, Mrs. Edgar
Wightman, was in charge of the
W.M.S. meeting and opened with a
hymn, followed by an item, "World
Call" read from the Missionary
Monthly. Routine reports from the
secretary and treasurer and sev-
eral cards of thanks were read.
Mrs. J. Wheeler gave a report of
the visits to the sick. A letter of
thanks from Dr. J, Mooney for
$10,00 .received to defray expenses
of' leen& parcels, was read. Mrs,
Wightman is to meet with leaders
of the other churches' societies in
the village to plan for the World
Day of Prayer, to be held in Trinity
Anglican Church, February 17, with
Mrs. Walter Scott giving the ad-
dress.
Mrs. Herb Wheeler was in
charge of the worship service and
opened it with a hymn followed by
meditation. Scripture readings from
Luke were given by Mrs. R. Nich-
olson, Mrs. B. Vincent and Mrs. J.
Anderson. Mrs. H. Wheeler led in
prayer.
..The theme of the study period
was changing patterns, and it was
discussed with questions and ans-
sers by Mrs. H. Wheeler, Mrs. B.
Vincent and Mrs. J. Anderson,
„ The singing of a hymn and the
Lords' Prayer in unison closed the
meeting.
W.A. Meeting
Mrs. George Michie, president of
the W.A. opened the meeting with
'El. hymn, after which, Mrs. W. Scott
read the Scripture lesson from
John 15::9-15. Mrs. Michie read the
meditation on "Friendship."
It was decided to have the piano
tuned as soon as convenient. The
secretary gave her report and stat-
ed that 28 members started the
new year. The treasurer, Mrs. J. M.
Coultes, said there was a balance
on hand of $959.00.
The meeting closed with a hymn.
AYPA Presents Play
To Capacity Crowd
BELGRAVE--A capacity crowd
gathered in the Forester's Hall on
Thuursday evening for the play,
!Too Many Relatives" put on by
the members of the A.Y.P.A. So-
tieties of Belgrave and Blyth.
Members of the cast were Harry
Brydges, Miss Edith Rinn, Mrs.
Clarence Wade, Miss Mary Isabel
Ilqethery, Tommy Brydges, Miss
Joan Brydges, Mrs. Lawrence Van-
nan, Boyd Taylor, Murray Brad-
burn and Tony Langridge.
The chairman was :Tony Lang-
ridge. Numbers between acts were
Vocal soles by Joyce Procter, ac-
companied by Miss Nora VanCamp
and a girls' trio from Auburn,
At the close of the play, Miss I.
Taylor expressed a vote of thanks
nh behalf of the A.Y.P.A. to Mrs,
C. Wade for directing and helping
to make the play a success.

BLUEVALE —Eight tables play-
5a1 at the progressive euchre held
in the community hall on Febru-
ary 3rd, sponsored by the Women's
Institute and conducted by Mrs.
Alex Corrigan, Mrs. Walter Smillic
and Mrs. Frank Stamper, It was
much enjoyed by all who attended.
The prize winners • were, high
scores, Mrs, Roy Turvey anti Mr.
Jack Underwood; low score, Miss
Jean Robertson, Mrs, Chas, Coul-

Progressive Euchre
BIdLGRAVB -The regular week-
ly progressive euchre party was
held in the Community Centre here
on Wednesday evening, February
1, There were 8 tables in play and
high prizes were won by Mrs. Herb
Wheeler and Mel Mailers, Consola-
tion -prizes went to Mrs. Howard
Wilkinson and Chris Nethery,
RECEIVE INSTRUCTION
ON PUPPET MAIM
BELGRAVE--Tbe regular meet-
ing of the C.G.I.T, was held on
Friday evening in the basement
of Knox United Church. It opened
with the C.G.I.T, Purpose and a
hymn followed by the minutes of
the previous meeting and the
treasurer's reaort showed a balance
of $11.67.
Eleanor and Marlene Walsh are
to be in charge of the worship per-
iod and Kay VanCamp is to be in
charge of recreation at the next
meeting, the roll call will be ans-
wered by naming a tribe of Indians.
Plans for a skating party to be
held later on were discussed.
Mrs, Ted Fear, assistant leader
had charge of the worship service
and opened it with the call to
worship followed by a hymn. Mrs.
Fear gave a reading about an
Indian, followed with the Scripture
lesson.
The theme of the study book was
"The Turquoise Horse."
Mrs. Fear led in prayer and the
worship service was closed with a
hymn and the benediction.
The group was then given some
instruction on making puppets,
Taps closed the meeting.

At Sunday Service
BELGRAVE—Special service was
held in Knox United Church on
Sunday with Rev. K. Krug in
charge,
At this service Rev. Krug ordain-
ed the three new elders, George
Michic, Earl Anderson and R088
Anderson. He also installed Ken-
neth Wheeler, the new member of
the board of stewards.
SCHOOL FAIR BOARD
ANNUAL MEETING
BELGRAVE --The annual Inca-
ing of the Belgrave School Fair
Board was recently held in the
community hall, Howard Campbell,
president, was in charge. The sec-
retary-treasurer, Stewart Procter,
read the minutes of the last meet-
ing and gave the financial state-
ment, which showed a balance of
$457.93.
J. H. Kinkead, public school in-
spector, was present and stated
that the only dates open to pro-
cure Mr. Roy Renwick for adjudi-
cator for the annual music festival
were the 9th and 10th of April. It
was decided to hold the festival on
these dates this year,
It was agreed that the secretary-
treasurer receive $100.00 salary for
the past year.
The fair had 2,751 entries last
year, the second highest in the
35 years it has been going, There
were 2,402 entries on fair day, 301
entries at the music festival and 51
at the fair concert.
It was decided that the two area
school hoards pay $1.25 per pupil
and two directors from each school
section were appointed,

of CKNX, Wingham. Refroshmonts
were served at the close of the
meeting.
Mrs. Peacock was a lifelong
member of the Methodist Church,
afterwards united with the Pres-
byteaian Church,
The funeral sbrvice, was conduct-
ed from the United Church on
Monday, February 6th with Rev.
R, A. Brook conducting the service,
Mrs. Peacock leaves two sons
William on the homestead, and
George, of Ottawa. Four grand-
children and one brother, Silas of
Walton, also survive.
Pallbearers were Dave Johnston,
Robert McLennan, ,Campbell Rob-
ertson, James Johnston, Lee Breck-
enridge and Lorne Gamble. The
flowers were carried by Alex Shaw,
Wm. Hastings, Fleming Johnston
and Allan Breckenridge.

BLUEVALE The W.M,S, of the
Presbyterian Church met ,in the
school room of the church on Feb-
ruary 1 with Mrs, R, J. McMurray
pre siding.
Mrs. Walter Smillie, Mrs. Eldred
Nichol and Mrs. Bernard Thomas
gave reports on the Presbyterial
