Miss Gertrude Stewart, last week,
who is on a trip to Europe.
Miss Stewart found she was .unable
to spend Christmas with her' niece,
Mrs. McCarthy of 'Frankfurt, Ger-
many, as,,She had Preadously.,intended.
She went from Genoa to Barcelona
in Spain and li•om there by plane to
Marjorca Island, Where she intends
to spend two weeks in the grand
summer climate. •

she attended the marriage of . her

Palmerston, to Mr. Arden, Barker, son

The ceremony took place in the
United Church at three o'clock, with
Rev. Mothers officiating. ' The recep-
tion, for over fifty guests,' was held,
in the Sunday School room of the

turned home from Sarnia on Wed-
nesday last, and spent Friday at
Caledon, where his mother, Mrs: John
Falconer; greatly improved from
her recent illness. Mr. Falconer ac-
companied Mr. Athol .Purtion to
Sarnia on 'Saturday to spend the
week-end with relatives there.

visiting at the home of his sister,
Mrs. John McGee, left on Friday to
visit at. the home of Mr. and Mrs.

The young People of the United
Church are holding a social evening
this Tuesday at -the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Clarence McClcnaghan.
Mrs. Ernest Snowden has been a
patient in Victoria Hospital since
Saturday, when she underwent an
operation for the removal of a goitre.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Humphrey of St.
Helens, and Mr. Snowden, were in
London on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Wood of Sea-
forth spent the week-end with her
father, Mr. Gershom Johnston, -who
haS -been suffering with a former leg
injury that has kept him in bed. '
Mr. and Mrs. George Currie spent
the week-end in Lodon at the
homes of their daughters, Mrs. Frank
McConnell and Mrs. Kenneth Wine-
garden. •
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Fraser and
baby Randy, of Walton spent Thurs-
day last with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Montgomery.
Mr, and Mrs, Carl Weber' and
children attended the funeral of her
uncle, the late Robert Mock, at liar-
riston on Thursday. • •

the doctor's CAM during the week-
end suffering from an attack of flu,
Mr. James 'Wilson has been operat-
ing' a boiler at the new Gorrie bridge
during the past week, His Mother,
Mrs. Jas. Wilson Sr., has been 'eon-
fined to her bed and has been under
the doctor's care during the past two
weeks.
Mr. Carl Weber took the rollers
froM the Watt Mill here, to Wood-
stock about two weeks' ago for ex-
tensive repairs and they are Still not
ready to be brought back to the mill,

bitter cold of Saturday night and
