Training was not too strenuous on
Monday night as everybody seems to
have the Christmas bug but that did
not stop WO 2 Wilt Seddon. He in-
structed on "Artillery in general" for
the first part of the evening, then Sgt.
Grover took over the balance of the
evening with small arms training,
that is sten gun lessons. I seem to be
running into competition with the
high school teachers as most 'of the
new members are High School Cadets
and how the teachers ever control
them I'll never know. If I don't 'soon
learn the secret, I think I will start
night school or get the next draft
overseas. Of course I am only joking.
The new members are a very keen
bunch of young men. I am getting
haggard-looking from coffee nerves,
O - - 0 The Signal section were kept busy
or I should say mobile by Sgt. Buck
Sinnamon. I think they were studying
camouflage and concealment, at least
I thought so until Gnr. "Squeak"
Hall asked me for a pair of "spurs."
For a minute I thought he was going
horse back riding or he had flipped
his trolley, but it turned out that he
wanted the kind for climbing tele-
phone poles. He said he had done
everything else in the Signal line and
now he wanted to climb poles,

This seems to be all the news for
now, but remember the dates for the
Christmas banquet and kiddies party
all you battery members. And you
fellows who have been thinking of
joining this battery, why not come in
to see us after the New Year, then
you will be able to start fresh and get
a complete year's training.

Discuss Strident. Appeal
It was reported that in connection
With the Every Home Plan, which
aims to, place the magazine of the
church 'The Presbyterian Reeord," in
every home, half the congregation of
the Presbytery have already accepted
the scheme and it is being considered
in all the etherS.
There was Xing discussion of a
suggestion made by Bishop Luxton
that the clergy should visit High
Schools and endeavour to recruit
students for the ministry. ,A point
Made was that the real call to the
ministry comes from God and that
the best of all places for this appeal
was the pulpit. The Presbytery, how,
ever, would look •with favour upon
all efforts in co-operation with other
denominations to make direct appeal
to students in High School. Arrange-
ments have already been made to do
this in Wingham, Lucknow, Ripley
and Kincardine.
The matter of religious education
in all schools was touched on.
There is a growing feeling that the
church could play 'a greater part in
this vital branch of education, Rev. D.
G. Campbell reported on budget giv-
lags, noting increases and stressing
the desirability of sending in amounts
to the coming Congress of the Church
as they are received. He also referred
in Toronto from May 29 to June 2
next year. A delegate for each 200
members of the church will be select-
ed, with at least one for every con-
gregation in the Presbytery.
To Mark Early Sites
Rev. D. 3, Lane, representing the
Historical Committee, spoke of efforts
to be made to mark sites of early
Presbyterian churches, and added
that he would be glad to hear from
the public regarding these. Rev. R. G.
McMillan reported on the vacancy in
Blyth and Auburn. Rev. C. Winn on
the Pension Fund, and the Moderator
on the Institutes recently held,
The Social Service Committee has
been asked to consider the proper
conduct of the Christian funeral and
to report later. A call in favor of Rev.
D, R. Sinclair from the congregations
