The girls were ask to have a name for the club and bring a 5? collection. Mrs. Richards gave an outline of the project and told what was neces- sary to equip a sewing box. She also told the things to be sure of when Making a slip. Brick W.M.S. The W.M.S. of Brick 'United Church held their November meeting last Wednesday at the home of Mrs. C. D. Cox, Belgrave, with an attendance of 14 ladies. Mrs, Allan Pattison's group, Mrs. MeRitchie, Mrs, Leslie Wight- man and Mrs. George Walker were in charge of the program, with the theme, "The 'Church, a Unique, Fellow- ship," Mrs. Walker gave a report*of the recent Presbyterial meeting at St. Helens. Mrs. Cecil Coultes gave a talk on the problems of older, people in Christian Citizenship. Mrs. Wightman told of the Work camps established in many countries of the world. All read the hymn "Fill Thou my Life, Oh Lord, our King." Mrs. Gilbert Beecroft introduced the Bookshelf for reading purposes, Mrs. Cecil Coultes has church calen- dars and Mrs. R. M. Shiell reports 22 Missionary Monthlies ordered. The ladies made plans for the Christmas entertainment in the church on Friday, December 18, and for the exchange of Christmas remem- brances at the next meeting. They planned for the gift to Miss Agatha Coultes, missionary among the Chin- ese at Nanaimo, B.C., and for the White Gift service this Sunday. Mrs. Irwin gave the report on the bazaar, and Mrs. MeRitchie closed the meet- ing with prayer. The hostess served lunch and all enjoyed the social time. Personals Miss Helen Louise Pocock, of O.A. C., Guelph, spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter 1:o- cock. Mrs. Chas. Shiell visited last Wed- nesday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas, Congram, of Lucknow. The flu has been going the rounds in many homes in this district, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Watson of Bruccfield, with their daughter, Miss Janet Watson, of Aylmer, visited on Saturday at the home of 1Vtr. and Mrs. Gilbert Beecroft. Rev, and Mrs. W, J. Watt arrived back on Tuesday from their long trip to visit at the home of their son, pr. Donald Watt of the Queen Charlotte Islands. They report a splendid trip, visiting also with relatives on the- Prairies. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Cook and sons, Ivan and Warren, of Blyth, spent Sunday at the bailie of her sister, Mrs. John Purdon. Miss Marjorie Elliott, of London, spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Elliott. Mrs. W. J. Coulter has taken rooms in town for the winter and is moving there this week. Gordon Elliott and Andrew Gaunt made a business trip to Toronto on Monday. The Ladies Aid of the Presbyterian Church held their annual business meeting at the home of Mrs. Jas. Mc- Loth on Tuesday last, Mrs. Caslick, president, presided. The following are the officers elected: pros., Mrs: George Fisher; vice-pres., Mrs. Russell Ross; Secretary, Mrs. Wallace Conn; treas., Mrs. Jas. Wilson. Mrs. R. D. A. Mrs. Cecil Skinner, of Exeter, spent last week at the home of her daugh- ter, Mrs, Kenneth Mason, and return- ed home on Sunday, with Mr. Skin- ner and with Mr. and Mrs. McAllister, of Centralia, who also visited there. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Small, of Tor- onto, have been visiting here arid as- sisting Mrs. Clark McGregor at the service station. Little Marion and Stephen Pocock, children of Mr. and Mrs, Norman Po- cock, of Whitby, have been visiting with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Pocock. James Aitcheson, who spent the past few months in the West, returned honie last week. Mr. and Mrs. John Gaunt and sons, visited on Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Coultes of E. Wawanosh. Mr. Coultes had quite a shaking up last Monday, He was re- turning home from Belgrave on the highway. a little north of the Bel- grave school, when a truck came up behind him, and crashed into the trailer with the load of chop. Mr. Coultes was thrown from the tractor to the middle of the pavement and the tractor turned and crossed the road and started to Mount the West bank of the road. Mr. Coultes picked himself up and was able to turn off the ignition. Police who were follow- ing the truck, investigated. Many men from this district at- tended nomination at Belgrave Com- munity centre on Friday, and Reeve Orval Taylor and his four councillors received another acclamation. Walter Bell had the misfortune to break a big belt at his chopper last week on Thursday, he and Clark Mc. The young people of the Presbyter- ian Church held their meeting last Tuesday at home of Mr. and Mrs Angus Falconer with Walter Elliott. President, presiding. Isabel Elliott read the Scripture lesson. Mrs. Fal- coner had the meditation and Mrs. James Wilson led in prayer, Mrs, Fal- coner played a piano solo and Ross McGregor had charge of the topic. The meeting was closed with the Mizpah benediction and Angus Fal- coner had charge of the recreation period. Lunch was served and all en- joyed the social time. Word was received here that Mrs. Dan O'Callahan was very low at her home in Detroit, this week, with little hope held for her ,recovery. Mr. and Mrs, Myles St. Marie were in Kitchener on Saturday, when his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jas. St. Marie, of Wingham, moved there to their new home. Three babies were baptized in the Presbyterian Church at the morning service on Sunday, Vera Elizabeth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Angus Mc- Donald, Paul Walter, son of Mr. And Mrs. Walter Elliott, and Kenneth Rus- sell, soh of Mr. and Mrs, Russell Phil- ips. Will Ringler spent Tuesday at Lon- don, where Mrs. Ringler has been a patient in St, Joseph's Hospital, for some weeks, Mrs. Ringler has shown considerable improvement since her recent operation and several from this district have journeyed to Lon- don to give blood to refill the blood bank in the hospital there. Mrs. Joe Montgomery First in Euchre At the Women's Institute euchre at the town hall on Friday, Mrs. Joe Montgomery won first prize for the ladies, and Joe Brophy won ,,first for the men.
