Warren Zurbrigg was in the chair, Harry Gowdy and B. H, Strong were nominated for reeve, E. H. Bennett, con. 12, Howiek, narrowly escaped having his arm drawn into his cornpieker while clean- ing it at Zeigler's farm, Highway 87, where he had been operating it. The two front fingers of his left hand were severely injured, the end and flesh of the first finger being torn off. to the nerves has made it very painful. Win Debating Competition At the Huron County debating con- test of Junior Farmers and Junior Institutes organizations in Seaforth on Friday evening, Miss Grace Edgar and Campbell Brown, of the Howick Juniors Club, were winner in the de- bate, "Resolved that the Junior Far- mers and Junior Institute Clubs are satisfactorily serving the purpose for which they were organized." The ladies return- ed home with them, The work of remodelling the Bel- graVe school building has been com- pleted and the classes are now in their new quarters. The school building has been enlarged to include a second classroom. The new room is built with plywood walls and red vinyl tile floor. A new ceiling has been built in the original classroom and the walls have been painted light blue. In ad- dition a new furnace room has been built and an oil furnace installed and the size of the play ground has been increased by extensions to the north and south, The junior ,grades of the school have been housed in the Orange Hall since January, 1949, when the enrol- ment became too high for the one class room. The senior grades have occupied the club room of the Com- munity Hall since the school was be- ing completed. Total cost of the con- struction amounts' to about $13,878. It is expected that a substantial government grant will be received in the coming year toward the cost. Euchre Clubs Meet The euchre clubs of this community met as usual last week. High prize winners at the Belgrave Club were Mrs. C. R, Coultes and Jesse Wheeler and low winners were Mrs. Chris, Nethery and Martin Grasby. The ninth line euchre club met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Woods, High prizes went to Kay Nay- lor and Clarence Hanna. Consolation prizes went to Betty Woods and Gor- don Woods. IClub 20 met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grasby. High prizes were won by' Mrs, Clifton Walsh and Mr. George Miehie.
