The first meeting of the project
being "Well Dreseed and Well Groom-
ed" was held at the home of Mrs, C.
Sothern, There was an election of
pfficees. ,They are as follows: Presi-
dent, Jean McCann; secretary, Allison
alccarin; treasurer, Phyllie Keith;
press reporter, Lois Simnel:me. The
next meeting will be held at the home
of We. Sothern at 8 p, rTi, The girls
were ask to have a name for the club
and bring a Sc colleetion.
Mrs. Richards gave an outline of
the project and told what was ;woes-
earY to equip a sewing box. She also
told the things to be sure of when
making a slip, The kind of material,
the fit and how well it laundere.
Mrs. Sothern gave an outline on
good grooming and being attractive.
Luneh was served by Mrs. Richards
and 'Mrs': 'Sothern. Jeah -McCann
thanked the ladies for their hospital-
ity.

Mr. and 'Mrs, Robert Campbell and
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hoffman spent
Monday in Hamilton.
Mr, and Mrs, W. Harris, of Colon-
say, Sask,, left on 'Thitrsday to spend
a feW days at Oshawa and Niagara
Falls before ° returning through the
States to their home,
Mr. and Mrs, Tom McCiement and
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Gallagher motor-
ed to Toronto on Sunday, the latter
remaining and leaving on Monday by
train to spend the winter with Mr, and
Mrs, Addissen Jacques in Summer-
land, B.C.
Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Doig and fam-
ily visited on Sunday with relatives
in Kitchener,
Mr. and Mrs, Jack Hoffman and

Newly-Weds Honored
About 90 friends and relatives of
Mr, and Mrs. W. Harris, newly-weds,
of ipolensay, Sask., gathered M their
honor on Monday evening in the Com-
munity Hall, The first part of the
evening was very much enjoyed when
Bill showed Moving pictures of their
wedding and Seelleig out wet and also
down here, after which the young
couple were called to the platform.

funeral last week in Listowel of the
late James Dane. Mr. and Mrs, Dane
were former residents of Fordwich.
Mr. end Mrs, Earl Baker and fam-
ily ,of London, spent the week-end
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George
Baker. Mrs. W. Forgie and 'son, of
Wingharn, also Mr. and Mrs, Elmer
Giles and two sOns, of Gorrie, were
guests on Saturday at the same home,
Mr. and Mrs, Dick Aldrich and Da-
vid spent one day last week in Lon-
don.
Mr .and Mrs. Don tounbury and
Patsy, Mr. and Mrs, Don Gibson and
two children, of St. Catharines, spent
the week-end at the home of Mr. and
Mrs, Ross Doig.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bryans, of Har-
riston, visited friends in town oh Sun-
day.

good-will ambassadors, the missionar
ies and other leaders, who go to their
countries, and those who come from
those lands, can find that spirit Of
good-will and helpfulness lore,
Mr, and Mrs. Myles St, Marie held
high score in euchre and /van Pow
held high Pointe in crokinole, Lunch
was served.
The next meeting will be held on
Tuesday night at the home of Mr, and
Mrs, J. D, Bee,creft, account of the
school concert in Fordyce school cn
Monday evening.
This forum approved the resolution
that has been circulating among fee,
urns in thig district asking the cream-
eries and meat lockers remain open
during the summer months until 10
p.m. on Saturday night.
Brick W.M.S.
The W.M.S. of Brick United Church
held their November meeting last
Wednesday at the home of Mrs. C, D.
Cox, Belgrave, with an attendance of
14 ladies. Mrs. Allan Pattison's group,
Mrs. McRitchie, Mrs. Leslie. Wight-
man and Mrs, George Walker were in
charge of the program, with the
theme, "The "Church, a Unique Fellow-
ship," Mrs. Walker gave a report of
the recent Presbyterial meeting at St.
Helens. Mrs, Cecil Coultes gave a talk
on the problems of older people in
Christian Citizenship. Mrs, Wightman
told of the Work camps established in
many countries of the world. All read
the hymn "Fill Thou my Life, Oh
Lord, our King."
Mrs, Gilbert Beecroft introduced
the Bookshelf for reading purposes,
Mrs. Cecil Coultes has church' calen-
dars and Mrs. R. M. Shiell reports 22
Missionary Monthlies ordered.
The ladies made plans fox the
Christmas entertainment in the
church on Friday, December 18, and
for the exchange of Christmas remem-
brances at the next meeting. They
planned for the gift to Miss Agatha
Coultes, missionary among the Chin-
ese at Nanaimo, B.C., and for the
White Gift service this Sunday. Mrs.
Irwin gave the report on the bazaar,
and Mrs, McRitchie closed the meet-
ing with prayer. The hostess served
lunch and all enjoyed the social time,

Miss Helen Louise Pocock, of O.A.
C., Guelph, spent the week-end with
her patents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Po-
cock.
Mrs. Chas. Shiell visited last Wed-
nesday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Chas. Congram, of Lucknow,
The flu has been going the rounds
in many homes in this district.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Watson of
Brucefield, with their daughter, Miss
Janet Watson, of Aylmer, visited on
Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Gilbert Beecroft.
Rev. and Mrs. W. J. Watt arrived
back on Tuesday from their long trip
to visit at the home of their son, pr.
Donald Watt of the Queen Charlotte
Islands. They report a splendid trip,
visiting also with relatives on the
Prairies.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Cook and sons,
Ivan and Warren, of Blyth, spent
Sunday at the home of her sister, Mrs.
John Purdon.
Miss Marjorie Elliott, of London,
spent the week-end with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs, Gordon
Mrs. W. J. Coulter has taken rooms
in town for the winter and is moving
there this week.
• Gordon Elliott and Andrew Gaunt
made a business trip to Toronto on
Monday.
The Aid of the Presbyterian
Church held their annual business
meeting at the home of Mrs. Jas. Mc-
Ilrath on Tuesday last. Mrs. Caslick,
president, presided. The following are
the officers elected: pres,, Mrs: George
Fisher; vice-pres., Mrs. Russell Ross;
secretary, Mrs, allace Conn; treas.,
Mrs. Jas, Wilson, Mrs. R. D. A. Currie
read the Scripture lesson from Mal-
achi, and Mrs Wrn Dawson led in
prayer, There will be no meeting in
December. Lunch was served,
Mrs. Cecil Skinner, of Exeter, spent
last week at the home of her daugh-
ter, Mrs. Kenneth Mason, and return-
ed home on Sunday, with /qr. Skin-
ner and with Mr. and Mrs. McAllister,
of Centralia, who also visited there.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Small, of Tor-
onto, have been visiting here and as-
sisting Mrs. Clark McGregor at the
service station.
Little Marion and Stephen Pocock,
children of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Po-
cock, of Whitby, have been visiting
with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Walter Pocock,
James Aitcheson, who spent the
past few months in the West, returned
home last week.
Mr. and Mrs. John Gaunt and sons,
visited on Sunday with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. George Coultes of E.
Wawanosh, Mr. Coultes had quite a
shaking up last Monday. He was re-
turning home from Belgrave on the
highway. a little north of the Bel-
grave school, when a truck came up
behind him, and crashed into the
trailer with the load of chop. Mr.
Coultes Was thrown from the tractor
to the middle of the pavement and
the tractor turned and crossed the
road and started to mount the West
bank of the road, Mr. Cotiltes picked
himself up ,and was able to turn off
the ignition. Police who Were follow-
ing the truck, investigated.
Many men from this district at-
tended nomination at Belgrave Com-
munity centre on Friday, and Reeve
Orval Taylor and his four councillors
received another acclamation,
Walter Bell had the misfortune to
break a big belt at his chopper last
Week .on Thursday, he and Glark Mc-
Gregor made a trip to Kitchener end
Torento for a new one. When coming
home in the atternoon, near Palmer-
ston, Waiter accidentally eleoVe into:
the rear of a loaded gravel truck.
1304 men were badly shaken up, Mr. Bell also had puts on hands and knee
and Mr. McGregor a cut face and
broken knee cap. Both men were tap,
en to Palmerston hospital. Mr, Bell
returned home the next day but Mr.
McGregor will spend some weeks with:
his leg in a cast,

son, Dewey, of Detroit, spent the,

Mrs. Marshall, of Owen Sound, has
been visiting at the home of her dau-
ghter, Mrs. H. D, A. Currie at the
Presbyterian Manse. c
Mr. and Mrs. liersme Irwin epent
the week-end in London, at the home
of their daughter, Mrs, Gibson Arm-
strong, who has been again under the
doctor's care.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben McClengahan and
Mrs. George McClenaghan visited on
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs, Melvin
McClenaghan, of Kitchener.
Mr. and Mrs. Scott PatersOn and
daughters, spent last week-end at the
home of his father, Mr. F. McK. Pat-
erson.

First in Euchre
At the Women's Institute euchre at
the town hall on Friday, Mrs. Joe
Montgomery won first prize for the
ladies, and Joe Brophy won first for
the men. First prize for the lady play-
ing as a man went to Mrs. Wilford
Caslick.
Eighteen tables were in play during
the evening.
Crop Report
Colder weather coupled with light
snow fall has brought about the stab-
ling of all livestock this week. Far-
mers report a shortage of water in
some areas. Livestock will be coming
into the winter in good condition and
reports indicate that there will be
adequate feed supplies.

Mr, and Mrs. Harry Moss and
family, of Bright, visited on Saturday
with her parents, Mr, and Mrs, Ben
McClenaghan.
The young people of the Presbyter-
ian Church held their meeting last
Tuesday at home of Mr. and Mrs
Angus Falconer with Walter Elliott:
president, presiding. Isabel Elliott
read the Scripture lesson, Mrs. Fel-
eoner had the meditation and Mrs.
James Wilson led in prayer. Mrs, Fal-
coner played a piano solo and Ross
McGregor had charge of the topic.
The meeting was -closed with the
Mizpah benediction and Angus Fal-
coner had charge of the recreation
period. Lunch was served and all en-
joyed the social time.
Word was received here that Mrs.
Dan O'Callahan was very low at her
home in Detroit, this week, with little
j hope held for her recovery.
Mr. and Mrs. Myles St. Marie were
in Kitchener on Saturday, when his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jas, St. Marie,
of Wingham, moved there to their
new home.
Three babies were baptized in the
Presbyterian Church at the morning
service on Sunday, Vera Elizabeth,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Angus Mc-
Donald, Paul Walter, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Walter Elliott, and Kenneth Rus-
sell, son of Mr eand Mrs. Russell Phil-
ips.
Will Ringler spent Tuesday at Lon-
don, where Mrs. Ringler has been a
patient in St. Joseph's Hospital, for
some weeks. Mrs. Ringler has shown
considerable improvement since her
recent operation and several from
this district have journeyed to Lon-
don to give blood to refill the blood
bank in the hospital there.
