Follo4ing the opening hymn, "The Church's One Foundation", Mrs. Har- old Wild led in prayer and Mrs. Ath- ol Purdon read the Scripture, which was taken from several sections of the Bible. Miss McPherson concluded the devotional part of the meeting with a prayer and a lovely poem, Miss Alice Heard reviewed a chap- ter of the study book, "Where'ere the Sun," by Samuel H, Moffet. Miss Heard dealt with this chapter in the form of an examination paper. She not, only _gave the answers to her questions but added many interesting facts. Out of a population of 1,173,- 000,000 in Asia only one in 40 are Christian, which leaves a lot of mis- sionary work still to be done on this vast continent. Mrs. W. B. Cruickshank conducted the business of the meeting and call- ed on the various officers for their reports. Miss Mary Love, literature secretary, brought the matter of the Book Shelf before the meeting and it was decided to continue it for an- other year. Mrs. H. Burrell, reporting for Mrs. C. Hodgins said that at a Meeting of the general assembly of the United Nations last August four resolutions had been passed for a peaceful settle- ment in Korea. A reply to a letter sent to the spec- ial missionary for prayer, Miss Mary Deacons, Reg.N., at Bonnyville, Alta., was read by Miss Phyllis Johns, in which she told of her work in this little Western town. The delegates to the Huron Presby- terial held at St. Helens on October 28 gave their reports. Mrs. Jack Reavie gave a very fine report of the morning session and Mrs, George Howson gave a most interesting re- port of the afternoon session, The meeting was closed with a hymn and the Mizpah benediction in unison. A dainty lunch was served and a pleasant sodial hour was enjoyed. ASKS EARLY MAILING FOR (XMAS PARCELS An appeal to mail early for Christmas was voiced this week by Archie Peebles, Wingham postmaster. Faced with an unprecedented rush of Christmas mail this year, expected by the post office to be the largest Christmas delivery in the history of the organization. Mr. Peebles pointed out that there will be no delivery of mail on 'Christmas Day, and that the last date for local mailing and deliv- ery is December 17th. 'Last dates for mailing to insure delivery for Christmas are listed as follows' United States (to allow for custom examination), December 8; 13. C., Alberta and Saskatchewan, December 12; Newfoundland, Decem- ber 12; Manitoba, December 14; Mari- time Provinces, December 14; Ontario and Quebec, December 15; local deliv- ery, December 17. During the Christmas rush the Post Office strives to keep up with the greatly increased volume of mail by working around the clock with the help of thousands of temporary em- ployees. You can help by making sure your mail is sent out early. .
