be attractive on the markets, be they dairy or beef, registered or

A well-preserved. . book of Gaelic
Psalms was discovered recently by
,IVfre, Lloyd, Hunter in the attic of The Belgrave Euchre Club held its
opening meeting for the winter season
on Thursday, November 12th, George
Grigg and Mrs, C. R. Coultes are the
committee in charge for 1953-54.
The meeting was held la the Co-Op.
club rooms with six tables in play,
High prizes were won by Mrs, Art
Scott and Alvin Pengelly, Consola-
tion prizes were won by Mrs. Cora
McGill and Jesse Wheeler,
A novelty prize given each week to
the person whose birthday falls closest
to the date of meeting went to Mrs,
A. M. Perdue.
"Club 20" held their first meeting of
the season on Wednesday evening,
November 11th, at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. George Martin with all mem-
bers present.
The evening was spent in playing
euchre with high scores going to Mrs,
George Michie and Jas. R, Coultes.
Consolation prizes went to Mrs. Har-
old Vincent and Kenneth Wheeler.
Lunch was served.
Autumn Thankoffering
The autumn Thankoffering meeting
of the Evening Auxiliary of the W.M.
S. of Knox United Church, met in the
church basement, Tuesday evening,
November 10th.
This was a special meeting at which
the Evening Auxiliary entertained the
Afternoon Auxiliary and the Brussels
Friendship Circle, Mrs. Clifton Walsh,
president, was in charge of the meet-
ing which was opened with the sing-
ing of a hymn, followed by Scripture
readings by Mrs. Floyd Campbell,
Mrs. George Michie, Mrs. Williard
Armstrong, Mrs. Robert Grasby, Mrs.
Ross Anderson and Mrs. Robert Oak.
Mrs. Andrew Lane, of Brussels, gave
two readings. A vocal duet was sung
by Mrs. George Michie and Mrs.
Charles D. pox, accompanied by Mrs.
George Johnston. The secretary, Mrs,
Gordon Bosman, read the minutes of
the last meeting and called the roll.
The treasurer, Mrs. Ross Anderson,
gave the financial report.
Mrs. C. D. Cox was the special
speaker and gave a talk on her work
in the mission fields in Northern Ont-
ario.
A skit "He Clothed Me" was pre-
sented by the following members of
Belgrave Evening Auxiliary. Mrs. Ed-
gar Wightman, Mrs.. James Walsh,
Mrs. Clifton Walsh, Mrs. Jas. R. Coul-
tes and Mrs, Cameron Walsh.
Misses Miller of Brussels, gave two
vocal duets and were accompanied by
Mrs. Edwin. Martin.
The dlosing hymn was sung and
Mrs. Cox pronounced the benediction.
Mrs. Ross Anderson conducted the
recreation activities and lunch was
served.

Mr. and Mrs. George Jones, Susan
and Irene, of London, spent the week-
end with Mr. and Mrs. J, E, McCallum.
Beginning November 21st., the lib-
rary hours will be from 2.30 p.m. until
4.30 p.m.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Wade and Miss
Beatrice Wade, of Fordwich, and Mary
Ann Cruickshank, of Wingham, were
guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Wade,
on Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. George Michie and
family spent the week-end with
friends at Toronto and Milton.
Mrs. Thomas Smith, Miss Amy
Smith and Ralph McCrea, were guests
of Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Harmer and
family and Mrs. Alice Allen at Fuller-
ton on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs, Earl Anderson and
family visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ed.
Hartlin at Goderieh on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Scott and
Mrs. Harvey Adams, spent Sunday
with friends at Hamilton.
Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Wheeler, of
Brussels, Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Pick-
ell and Warren, of St. Thomas, visited
with Mr. and rs. Herb Wheeler last'
week.
Mr. and Mrs. George Jordan visited
on Sunday at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. McCauley at Brampton.
Mr. and Mrs, Nelson Pickell of Tees-
water and Mrs. Pickell, Sr., of Wing-
ham, were guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Herb Wheeler on Sunday.
Mrs. Albert Becker, of Kitchener,
spent a few days last week with her
daughter, Mrs. Edwin Armstrong,
Mr. James Lamont spent Sunday
with his brother, Flt. Sgt. Thomas La-
mont and Mrs. Lamont at Clinton.
Miss Amy Smith and Mr. Ralph Mc-
Crea visited on Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. Ed. Hartlin at Goderich, on Sat-
urday.
Wm, Willoughby and Kenneth, of
Trowbridge, visited on Sunday with
Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Procter.
Mrs. Cora. McGill spent Sunday with
Mr. and Mrs, Correy de Vrise, at
Goderich.

REC. REPS. PLAN
MEET AT aHANOVER
Members of recreation committees,
municipal councils and others inter-
ested in the development of com-
munity programmes of recreation in
the counties of Bruce, Huron and
Perth, are making plans now to
attend the Lake Huron. Recreation
Council's first annual conference.
This conference will be held at the
Community Hall on Wednesday, Nov-
ember 25, 1953, in Hanover, Ontario,
Subjects of increasing interest in
the development of recreation pro-
grammes are on the agenda for dis-
cussion and qualified resource people
have been secured to lead the discus-
sion in each topic. The theme speak-
er "at the conference will be Prof.
Alan Klein, from the School of Social
Work at the University of Toronto,
who is one of Canada's experts in the
field of recreation. The theme of his
speech will be "COMMUNITY CO-
OPERATION—WORKING TOGETH-
ER FOR BETTER PROGRAMMES",
Among other resource people to
attend will be Mr. K. L. Young,
Director of Community Programmes
Branch of the Ontario Department of
Education; Dr. Earl Zeigler, profes-
sor, and head of the Department of
Physical Health and Recreation Edu-
cation at the University of Western
Ontario; Mr. T. A. Leishman, super-
visor of field personnel, Community
Programmes Branch of the Depart-
ment of Education and Mr. William

ation in London.
