Work of Children's Aid
Described at W.M.S. Meeting
The work of the children's Aid So,
ciety of Huron County was effectively
outlined to a large audience in Bel,
grave United Church on Friday even,
ing. This important meeting was
sponsored by the Woman's Mission-
ary Society of the church, the mein-
hers of which also provided lunch at
the close of the meeting. Rev, C. D,'
Cox extended a sincere welcome to
thefficials and staff of the society
and sto all present,
The board of directors of the Child,
ren's Aid Society was present and the
president of the board, Rev. R. Me -
Millen, of Goderich, was chairman.
The staff members of the institution
were also present and each gave an
interesting talk, explaining her daily
tasks and the various problems con-
fronting her, The superintendent, Mrs.
Chaffee, spoke highly of the efficiency
and co-operation of the staff which
consists (.1 her assistant„ Miss C. Mc-
Gowan, Mrs. E. Ross and Mrs, Myers,
A history of the institution was pre-
pared and read by Mrs. )3ert Taylor,
who traced it's growth from the time
from it's inception in 1911.
Elston Cardiff, M.P., was present
and spoke briefly. Speeches were also
given by Mrs. Johns, of Woodharn,
Mrs, George Johnston, Mr. Kerslake,
Warden of Huron County, Mr, A. H.
Erkine, county treasurer, and by Rev.
Hind, of Goderich.
The program also included musical
numbers, a duet by Donna Anderson
and Ruth Procter and a solo by Billie
Cannes, Mrs. George Johnston was
the accompanist,
Trinity Guild Meets
Trinity Anglican Church Guild met
on Thursday, November 5th, at the
home of Mrs. C. H. Wade with a good
attendance.
The president, Mrs, Win.. Brydges,
presided and the devotional period was
led by the rector, Rev. W. E. Bram-
well.
Plans were discussed for catering
to Morris Federation banquet and for
holding a bazaar in the Co-op club-
room on December 3rd. Subscriptions
for the Huron Church News were re-
ceived,
The program included a solo "At
Eventide" by Mrs. Brydges; a reading,
"Just for Today", by Mrs. Dorothy
Cruickshank and a Bible quiz.
The next meeting is to be held at
the home of Mrs. Albert Bacon on
Thursday, November 26th.
Elects Officers
The annual meeting of Trinity
Church A.Y.P.A. was held at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Wm Brydges on Mon-
day evening, November 2nd.
The president, Harry Brydges, was
in charge of the meeting. The minutes
of the last meeting were read and
the financial statement was given by
Alex Nethery.
The rector, Rev. W, E. Bramwell.
presided for the election of officers
as follows: President, Mary Isobel
Nethery; vice-president, Ella Nethery;
secretary, David Nesbitt; treasurer.

Guests from other communities at-
tending the golden anniversary of the
Bluevale Institute were: Mr. and Mrs.
John Sparks and Donna, of London;
Mrs. Wm. McTaggart and Scott, also
Mrs.. Powell, of Goderich; Mrs, Orville
Jones and Mrs. Nellie Scott, of Luck-
now; Mrs, Walter Forrest, and Mrs.
Davis of Brussels and Mrs, Cecil Grif-
fiths, of Brantford.
From Wingham were: Mrs. L. H.
Rosman, Mrs. R. H, Lloyd, Mrs. Earl
Hamilton, Mrs, Roger Oke, Mrs. Whit-
ney Stewart, Mrs. Jas. Breckenridge,
Mrs. Lloyd Warwick, Mrs. John Kerr,
and Mrs, P. D. King.,
To Aid Building Fund
The Women's Association met in
the United Church on Thursday with
the president, Mrs. Stanley Darling,
presiding.
A fine financial statement was pre-
sented by the treasurer, Mrs. Alex
MeCrackin.
It was decided to pay the balance of
the allotment on the building fund of
the United Church Training School in
Toronto.
The members voted to finance need-
ed improvements to the church pro-
perty.
Mrs, Jos. Horton, Mrs. Gordon Hall
and Miss Emma Johnston were named
a nominating committee for December
elections.
W.M.S. Discusses India
The W.M,S., the president, Mrs.
Milton Fraser, in charge, _met on
Thursday afternoon.
Mrs. Carl Johnston gave a report
of the morning session of the sectional
W. M, S. meeting recently held at St.
Helens, where the Bluevale W.M.S.
conducted the devotional exercises.
It Was planned to send Christmas
gifts for 125 boys and girls in an Ind-
ian residential school at Fort Frances.
A nominating committee, Mrs, R, A.
Brook, Mrs. M. L. Aitken arid Mrs. Ed,
Johnston was named.
Mrs. Brook conducted the study pro-
grant with Mrs. A, McCratkin and
Murray Eradburn arid Harry Brydges,
Contests and games were enjoyed

of Ailsa Craig, visited with Mr. and
Mrs, William Kelly on Sunday.
Miss Annie McNichol, of Walton, is
spending a few days with Mrs. Laura
Johnston and with other friends in
the village.

nesday to spend a few months with
her brother, Mr. James VanCamp, at
Bluevale,
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Black, of Brit-

On Sunday, November 15th, the ser-
vice in Knox Presbyterian Church
Will be held in the evening at 8 o'clock
when the newly-elected eiders will be
ordained and the minister, Rev. W,
Fulton, of Brussels, will be assisted
by Rev. R. Boggs of Molesworth.

Mrs, J. M. Coultes on Sunday were
Mr. and Mrs, Harmon Mitchell, of
Rothesay, Mrs. J. Leaver, Mr. and
Mrs. Norman Keating and Catherine,

Arthur Jones, of Detroit, spent the
week-end with relatives in the dis-
trict. '
Mr. and Mrs, Howard Wilkinson
visited on Sunday with Mr ,and Mrs.
K. F. Wilkinson at Goderich.

McGill last week were Mr. Ernest
Wallace, of Paelo, Pennsylvania, Mrs.
Margaret Lowry, Mr. Fred Lowry and
Mr. and Mrs. Art Edwards, all of
Dundas, and Mr. and Mrs. Norman
Geddes, of Toronto.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Byers and
June, of Royal Oak, Michigan, spent
the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Carl
Procter.
Miss Eileen Holmes and Mr. Pete
Mortiss, of London, spent the week.

Mr. James Lamont, who has rented
the Texaco garage and service station
at Blyth, formerly operated by Mr.
Gregory, opened for business on Mon-
day, November 9th.

Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Boles and Della
Boles and Mr, Garf Rymer, all of St.
Catharines, were guests of Mr. and
Mrs. Melvin Taylor last week.

The themes were: Christian Work
Camps and the Gospel in India.
In India there are 2000 different
castes. There is one doctor to every
7000 people and one nurse to every
48,000 people. The Christian church is
growing but more workers are needed,
Armistice Day Service
In the United and Presbyterian
Churches on Sunday, the ministers,
Rev. R. A. Brook and Rev. Mr. Bailie,
preached appropriate sermons for
Armistice Day, making reference to
the heroism of the soldiers who had
given their lives in the two great wars.
Receives Life Membership
Mrs, Burns Moffatt was presented
with a life membership certificate in
honour of her years of continuous
membership and service at the regular
meeting of the Presbyterian W.M.S. on
Wednesday. The , presentation was
made by Mrs. R, Turvey and Mrs.
Wm. Mundell read the address.
Mrs. (Rev.) Hyndman, Cranbrook,
guest speaker, spoke briefly on the
purpose of life membership. She told
the story of several noted women
down through the ages, showing the
service women have given the world
for Christ.
Mrs. Smillie, life membership sec-
retary, was in charge of the meeting,
Mrs. McMurray read the Scripture les-
son and Mrs. R. Elliott led in prayer.
Special music was a solo, "Living for
Jesus" by Mrs. G, Greig with Mrs.
0. Moffatt accompanist. '
In the absence of the president, Mrs.
R. Turvey, 1st. vice-president, presid-
ed for the business period. A social
hour followed.
W. I. Regular Meeting
The Women's Institute will hold its
regular monthly meeting on Thursday
November 12th, at the home of Mrs.
Chas. Bosman. The roll Call will be
answered by giving donations of cann-
ed goods to Wingham General Hospi-
tal. Mrs. Gordon Mundell Will give
the motto, Mrs. D. 5, MacNaughton
will describe her trip to Ottawa with
delegates to the A,O,W.W. convention,
Mrs. Harvey Robertson and Mrs, Don
Robertson will give musical selections.

The W,M,S. of Bluevale united Church held its autumn Thankoffer-
ing service on. Sunday evening. Hev.
R. A. Brook conducted the service.
The guest Speaker Mrs. Leslie
Wightmen, of Brick 'Church, West-
field described the meetings of the
dominion board of W,M,S, in Toronto,
last year, She gave a picture of $he
fine efforts of the W.M.S. in home
and foreign fields. One million dollars
was the amount of money raised in s
year by the W.M.S. hr Canada for all
missionary projects.
Mrs. Allan White of 'Clifford, sang
a solo and the choir gave a special
number, Mrs. Carl Johnston accom-
panying,

with Bluevale relatives.
