of Churches met in the home of Rev
Alex, -Manna, the presbytervin manse,
Wiugham, Ontario, on Monday, Oct-
ober 5th, 1953,
'he meeting opened with a brief de-
votional period conducted by Rev.
Donald MacRae, of Wingham United
Church, Rev, H. T. West, of Behnore
United Church, was the pianiat.
With the retiring president, Rev.
Andrew Lane, of Brussels United
Church, in the chair and Rev. H. L.
Parker as secretary-treasurer, the
meeting elected Rev. H, L, Parker,
rector of St. Paul's ,Anglican Church,
Wingham, as the new president, and
Rev. Matthew Bailie, minister of Blue-
vale Presbyterian Church, as the new
secretary-treasurer, Rev, E. W. Todd
of Wroxeter United Church was ap-
pointed press secretary.
A hearty ',welcome was extended to
the new members of the council, Rev.
ID, MacRae and Rev. H. T. West.
Thanks were extended to Mrs.
Ninuno and her daughter, for serving
a delicious lunch and to the retiring
president, Rev. A. Lane, for his splen-
did leadership during the past year.
The council was also grateful to
Rev. H. L. Parker for his past ser-
vices as the( secretary-treasurer.
Rev. D. J. Lane, of Clinton Presby-
terian Church gave a well received, in-
teresting and thought-provoking paper
on the subject "The Lost Generation."

The deeision of the Wingham Gen-
eral Hospital to levy a surcharge on
patients from municipalities not con-
tributing to the cost of the proposed
new hospital wing, has brought a cer-
taM amount of unfavorable criticism
from some of the surrounding muni-
cipalities,
Here is an editorial from the Tizea-
water Nova on the subject. Teeswater
council has already approved its,
share of the new wing,
"Wingham Hospital, in view of the'
fact that some municipalities are not
anxious to participate in the cost of
their proposed new wing, has ruled
that, commencing in October a sur-
charge of $1,50 per day will be charg-
ed to patients from municipalities
other than those assisting in the new
building cost.
"The Hospital Board has a good
argument here, insofar as residents
within the communities assisting in
the building cost are entitled to a

Wingham Hospital wing' and we re-
