of the community met on Thursday
evening at, the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Earl Wightman and presented Mr,
and Mrs. Norman Wightman, newly-
weds with an electric iron, electric
toaster, a bread knife and a butcher
knife, The address was given by Mr.
Marvin MoDoWell and the presenta-
tion was made by Mrs. Arthur Spieg-
elberg. Norman thanked the friends
iirlar the good wishes and' gifts. Mr,
Harvey Wightman showed coloured
pictures which he had taken in Van-
couver, Niagara and other places.

The September meeting of the
Young Woman's Aiialliary was held
at the home of Mrs, Alan Williams,
with 20 members present.
The meeting opened with the sing-
ing of "All People that on Earth Do
Dwell", followed by an article for
meditation read by Mrs. Russell Zur-

with a Biblical question and answer
and the minutes of the previous. meet-
ing were given. Next month's roll
call will be answered In the same
manner,The treasurer's report was
given. The Korean bale was discussed
and it was decided that used clothilg

ing charges on the bale,
The meeting closed with the singing
of "Day Is Dying", followed by the
Mizpala benediction.
Lunch was served and a social hour

en by Mrs. Ernest Walker.
Mrs. Russell Zurbrigg introduced the

Ladies' Guild Plans
For Annual Bazaar
'N first fall meeting of the Ladies'
Guild pf St. Paul's Anglican Church,
was held in the Parish Hall on Thurs- Y oung W orn an' s
day afternoon, September 24th, with
a good attendance. Auxiliary Meets
The meeting was opened by the
president, Mrs, W. Connell and the
Members repeating in unison the Gen-
eral Confession and the Lord's Pray-
er,
The miutes of the last meeting weir-
read by the secretary, Mrs. Smalley,
and adopted as read also the treas-
urer's report, by Mrs. D. B. Porter.
Several donations of material were
received to be converted into saleable
articles for the annual bazaar in Nov-
ember, a sewing committee having
already been organized.

Figures Released
On Lake Huron'
Commercial Catch
A total of 586,000 pounds of fish
were taken frein Lake Huron in com-
mercial fishing operations during the
first six months of 1953, according to
figures released last Week by the De-
partnient of Lands and Forests. The
figure is part of a total' of 13,042,000
pounds of fish • caught commercially
during that period in the waters of
the province, The total catch in the

pounds caught in the corresponding
period of last year.
One of the sharpest increases in
Lake Huron was. the Chub catch which
jumped from 37,000 pounds to 94,004
poondg, The whitefish catch was down
from 193;000 to 91,000 pounds in the
same period, The department also re-,
corded a sharp increase in the carp
catch in Lake Erie and Lake Ontario,
attributing it to a greater demand on
the market and improvement in the
