Former Wingham Man
Passes in Woodstock
Harry Campbell Dore, a former
resident of Wingham, died in Wood-
stock General Hospital, last Wednes-
day. He was 59.
Born in Wingham, the son of the
late Mr. and Mrs, William Dore, he,
was a school teacher for many years,
teaching in Caledonia and Sarnia.
Eleven years ago he went to Wood-
stock from Hamilton, being associated
with the National Propane Co. Ltd., in
both centres, He had been in ill health
for the last eleven weeks.
Mr. Dore was a member of the King
Solomon's Masonic Lodge, 'Woodstock,
the Woodstock Curling Club, the Can-
adian Legion, Branch 55, and the
Woodstock Lawn Bowling Club.
Surviving is a sister, Mrs. W. A.
(Eileen) Hillman, Toronto; three
nieces and one nephew.
Funeral services were held from
the e/I. D. Smith Funeral Home,
Woodstock on Friday with Rev. Ster-
ling Kitchen, of Chalmers United
Church, officiating, Interment was in
Wingham cemetery,

Clarkson Elliott Johnston, eldest
son of Mr. and Mrs. Gershom John-
ston, of E. Wawanosh, passed away
suddenly at his home at Windsor, on
Sunday morning following a heart at-
tack. He was in his thirty-eighth year
and has lived for some years at Wind-
sor where he worked at the Ford
plant.
Prior to that he lived at Sudbury,
where he married his wife, the former
Mary Ellen Grubb, who survives, with
their two daughters Violet and Nancy.
He also leaves his parents, three bro-
thers, Kenneth, of Clinton, and Jim
and Jack at home and five sisters,
(Mrs. Stewart Smith) Donelda, of
Kitchener; (Mrs. Chas. Wood) Ariel,
of Seaforth; (Mrs. Ross McMichael)
Lois, of Clinton; Mrs. Edward Robin-
I son) June, of St. Augustine; and (Mrs.

First Euchre
The Women's Auxiliary, of the Can-
adian Legion held their first euchre
of the season on Monday night. Eleven
tables were in play during the even-
ing.
Winners of the Ladies high score
was Mrs. Bill Kennedy. Gentleman's
high was won by Milford Foxton and
lady playing as a man was Mrs. David
Crothers.
The Auxiliary is planning to run'
regular euehres every second and
fourth Monday 'of the month during
the fall and winter season,

The four Fall Fairs held in the
County this week were well attended,
105 head of holsteins were shown at
the County Black and White Show, 113
shorthorns at the Perth-Huron Reg-
ional Shorthorn ShOw and 72 head of
Herefords at the County Hereford
Show. 4-H Achievement Day pro-
grammes have been outstanding and
the County 4-H Championship Dairy
Calf Show at the Blyth Fall Fair had
35 boys and girls out 'with their Dairy
Calves, The County 4-H Champion-
ship Beef Calf Show was the high-
light of the Seaforth Fair with 35
steers and 25 beef heifers entered in
the Competition by 4-H Club mem-
bers. The heavy rains of last week
and again this week delayed the har-
vest of beans and turnips, but on the
other hand have provided badly need-
ed moisture for fall wheat and pas-
tures.
