The Ladies,,,Auxiliary to the How-
ick Legion held their September meet-
ing in their hall last week.
Comrade Nellie Allan was in the
chair. After the business was taken
care of thank-you notes from mem-
bers were read. A letter from West-
minster Hospital was read, telling the
members their adopted soldier had
passed away and it was decided to
adopt ,another.
The mystery box was ton by Com-
rade E, Williamson. Plans were made
to hold a Hallowe'en dance in Ford-
wich hall on Friday, October 30th,
The Zone Commander is to be invit-
ed for the October meeting.
Several of the ladies put on a comic
skiff and a reading was given by Com-
rade McCann, which was enjoyed.
The members of the legion joined the
ladies for a social half hour and lunch
was served.
Attend R.B.P. Meet
Justin Will, John Dinsmore, Stan
Hays, Ab. Hall and Robt. Hibberd at-
tended a special meeting of Huron
County R.B.P., held in Woodham on
Thursday September 24th. R. W. Sir
Knight A, S. Brooks, of St. Catharines;
Grand Master of the Grand Black
Chapter of Ontario, West gave a very
interesting address. to the members.
North Huron L.O.L.
The quarterly meeting of North
Huron County L.O.L. was held in New-
bridge Orange Hall on Tuesday, Sept-
ember 29th, with County Master H.
Hunking, of Londesboro, presiding.
Honor Newlyweds
The community hall at Fordwich
was filled to capacity on Wednesday
night to honor Mr. and Mrs. Everitt
Ashton, newlyweds. They were present-
ed with a trilight lamp and a sum of
money, The address was read by
Campbell Brown, Everitt and Marjorie
both thanked the gathering for the
lovely gifts. Dancing was enjoyed to
the Fordwich orchestra and lunch
was served.
A highlight of the evening was two
square dances put on by the junior
farmers square dance team from this
area, They have been very successful
in various contests and certainly show
the square dance at its best.
On Friday evening friends and nei-
ghbors gathered in the community

They were presented with a trilight
lamp, coffee table, hostess chair, mir-
ror, bathroom hamper and pottery
vase, also a gift a money. Jim and
Shirley thanked everyorie. Dancing
was enjoyed td Gadite's orchestra. The
address was read by Scott Keith.

at the United Church Sunday morning
and evening, with a good attendance.
Rev. Gordon Hazelwood Of Mount For-
est, delivered two very fine sermons
and the choir rendered special music.

few days last week at Port Huron,

while at La Salle visited with Rev.
and Mrs. G. D. Vogan a former mini-

Sunday at Clifford and Mount Forest.

John Mowat and Miss Edna Buse, of

Brussels, visited on Sunday at the
home of the latter's father Mr. Car-
man Bride.

family of Stratford, were week-end
guests with Mr. and Mrs. Ira Schaefer.

Sound, visited on Sunday at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Parker Eurig.
