It was decided to have the annual
bazaar on October 24th and various
committees were appointed. Mrs. Ful-
ler and her guest from Wampole Is-
land were introduced and welcomed
by the members,
Mrs. Jim Strpng gave a reading en-
titled, "The Building Parson". Rev,
D. Fuller closed the meeting' with
prayer and lunch was served.
Several Break-Ins
Several places of business were
broken into last week, Devitt's Garage,
Richards Pool Room and IVIeDearnitt`e
General Store. Tobacco and cigarettes
were the main items of plunder, also
some loose change, Provincial police
are investigating.
W.A. Plan Bazaar
The W.A. 'of the United Cbuech is
planning a bazaar and bake sale for
Saturday, December 5th. Keep the
date in mind.
Miss Louise Matthews is spending
some time visiting with Mr. and Mrs.
Mae Corbett, in London.
.Mr. and Mrs, Rogers and two child-
ren, of London, spent a few days last
week at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Holt.
Miss Jean Wallace spent last week
with friends in Toronto.
Mr. and Mrs. George Richards and
Billy visited recently in Blenheim.
Miss Mavis Holt, of Palmerston, is
spending two weeks at the home of
Mrs. Jennie Mosure.
Mr. and Mrs. John Tristram and
family, of Nobel, visited at the home
of the fortifier's parents for a few days
last week.
Mrs. Jack Brown and baby spent
several days with her mother, Mrs.
P. Duncan, in Mount Forest,
Harvey Bride, of Lucknow, spent
the week-end at his home here.
Mr. Harry Sansom returned home
over the week-end after spending a
week in Toronto.
Mr. and Mrs. M. Woolcox visited for
two weeks with relatil 38 in Traverse
City, Michigan.

The monthly meeting of the W.M.S.,
Was held on Wednesday afternoon,
With Mrs, Edgar Howatt and her
mop in charge. The meeting opened
by singing the hymn "Guide Me, 0
Thou Great jelioVah," and prayer by
Mrs. Alva MeDewell, The Seriptfire
iesson, pealin 96, was read by Mrs.
Howatt, A reading, "A, Tired Genera-
tion," was given by Mrs, Hugh Blair,
The study boeit was taken by Mrs.
Marvin McDowell, and "Blessed As,
surance" was sung. The president,
Mrs, Chas. Smith, was in charge of the
business, which opened by singing
"0, Worship the King" and prayer
by Mrs. Smith. The roll call was ans.
wered by a verse of Scripture by each
one present. Mrs, Fred Cook gave a
paper on Christian Stewardship, "A
Broken Mainspring." Mrs. Hugh Blair
gave a paper on temperance, "The
Drinking Driver" and Mrs. J, „L, Mc-
Dowell gave one on a challenge to
Christians. The society accepted the
invitation to meet with Auburn United
Church W. M. S. on October 6th. The
closing hymn was, "My Faith Looks
up to Thee," The benediction was
given by Mrs. Smith.
Mr. and Mrs, Alva McDowell and
Mrs. Les Bair visited on Saturday
with Mr. and Mrs. Flank Kershaw
and Miss Chris McClinton, of Goder-
ieh.
Guests at the home of Mrs, Fred
Cook on Sunday were Mr. and Mrs.
Jim Boak and children of Crewe, Miss
Violet Cook, of Goderieh, Mr. A. E.
Cook, of Blyth, Mrs. John Fleming,
Mr. Harold Fleming and Miss Muriel
Smith, of Hanover.
Mr. and Mrs. Bhvin Taylor, Ed and
Norma Taylor, of Brussels, visited
on Sunday with Mrs. J, L, McDowell
and Gordon.

don, visited on Friday with Mrs.
Frank Campbell and Miss Winnifred.

Goderieh, were guests on Sunday at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin
McDowell.

Pte. John Sprung, Mrs. Sprung and ,

having a farm sale on Friday, Sept.
18th, as they have sold their farm.

Successful anniversary services
were held on Sunday. The altar was
decorated with fall flowers. Special
music was given by the Westfield
choir and quartet. Two splendid
addresses were given by Rev, Howard
Dickinson, B.A., of Goderieh,

The Monthly meeting of the Trinity
Church WA, -was held at the home
of Mrs, Crosby Sotheran,
Mrs. Armstrong presided and open-
ed the meeting with Scripture, read-
ing from the second chapter of Peter
and ail repeated the member's prayer.
The roll call was answered with, a
verse pertaining to the word "Re-
deemer." The roll call for October will
be on the word "Kingdom".
Correspondence was read consist=
lag of thank you notes from, two of
the shut-in members. Sewing arid
knitting for the layettes were distri-
buted, also quilt blocks.

spent the week-end at the home oh her
sister., Mrs. Archie Purdon.
Quite a number of Institute mem-
bers -from here motored to 'Teeswater
on Monday night where •they, and

seed Institutes were enteeteined in
the town hall. Mrs. B. S. Lewis, of
'eel:Ingham, demonstrated the making (or smaller and larger basket bouquets

-ribbon. Mrs. Donahue demonstrating

with paint. Dr, Mary Rutman,

in Ceylon gave a very :interesting talk

ganized. Dr. Reitmares speech was
broadcast on Tuesday over CKNX.
Other local members :made it a very
interesting program. „Lunch was serv-
ed and a social hour enjoyed by all.

children, of- Toronto, visited on , Sun-
day with his uncle, Mr. F. Mck. Pat-
erson,
