A delegation from the Winghara District High School Board visited the Council to discuss the building of a new high school in Wingham. No action was taken by the -cenneil. Moved by Wm. Coultes that we accept our share of the cost of the addition to the Wingham General Hospital in the hamlets of Bluevale and Beigrave on a per capita basis with the Town- ships of Turnberry and East Wawa- nosh, the total amount from the township of Morris not to exceed $20,000. Wawanosh Council The council met on August 4th., with all the members present, The reeve presiding. The minutes of the meeting held July 7th were read and adopted on motion by McGowan, sec- onded by Hanna. C. R. Coultes and Alex Robertson representing the Wingham Hospital Board requested the council to con- sent to the building of a new wing to the Hospital and the township to raise a per cent of the cost. A delegation from the Wingham District High School area board re- quested the council to consent to the building of a New High School in Wingham. Moved by Purdon seconded by Hanna, "That this council approves the btrilding of a new High School and the issuance of debentures on the assessment of the Wingham District High School Area in payment there- for" and which motion was carried. Moved by Buchanan seconded by McGowan that the decision of the council be held over until the Septem- ber meeting on the new wing of the Wingham Hospital and the reeve go to the Hospital to check up on the patients from East Wawanosh, Car- ried, Moved by Hanna seconded by Pur- don that a grant of $50.00 be given to the Blyth Fair Board. Elmer Johnston, of Elam Township, and formerly of Asfifield, had a liar, NW brush with death last week, Quick thinking by Mrs. Johnston, who set the deg on the animal, distracted his attention just long, enough for Mr, and Mrs. Johnston to reach, safety f.n. their car which was nearby. Elmer had gone to a neighbor's to round up the bull which had broken out of the pasture field, lie took the car through the field, which was for- tunate, and morose that he was ac- companied by his wife and the dog, In driving the animal back to the barn to tie it up, it turned on Eimer, He drove off the first attack, but the second time slipped and fell under the enraged animal. He would have been gored to death except for the distraction caused by the dog's attack which permitted El- mer, with his wife's a,,sistance, to crawl to the car despite his injuries. In Listowel hospital it was discover- ed he had a fractured collarbone and broken ribs, both front and back, some of them being torn from the back- bone. It was at first '.'eared he might have received a punctured lung. El- mer's injuries will use him up for a I couple of months.
